<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> RIP the power supplies aren't coming up
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> (got the parts and I'm assembling the first board)
<azonenberg> :(
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> kind of impressive honestly that all of them don't work
<azonenberg> any idea whats wrong yet?
<azonenberg> if it's the same regulator or something i'd start looking at pinout issues
<monochroma> the datasheet said they were intended for wireless power, i feel tricked if i had to hook up any of the pins.
<azonenberg> :P
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> lol
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> 5 and 7V are the same
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> and -7 is pulling too much current
<azonenberg> I'd suggest removing the -7V regulator first then, and debug the other rails
<azonenberg> it's possible the overcurrent is making them fail
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> that's what I'm doing
<azonenberg> Great minds think alike :)
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> 🙂
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> The fact that 5 and 7 are giving me nothing leads me to believe it's a pinout issue
<azonenberg> I assume you've confirmed power is present at the regulator input?
<azonenberg> and it's not something stupid like a bad solder joint on a ferrite
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> yep
<azonenberg> Yeah pinout would be my next suspect. Did you go through my design review checklist prior to ordering boards?
<azonenberg> One of the things on that checklist is a pin by pin review of sch symbol and footprint against the datasheet
<azonenberg> I only skip that if it's a component i personally have used on a board in the past, i don't trust library symbols to be correct. Been burned too many times
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> I've got 5v now
<azonenberg> wooo
<azonenberg> what happened?
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> footprint is fine :), I was playing fast and loose with soldering w/ voltage applied because it's friday and I'm tired
<azonenberg> Lol
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> so that might have been the culprit
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> (to be clear I just forgot to turn it off a couple times while using hot air
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> I wasn't just sticking my iron in all over the place 😛
<azonenberg> Lol i've done that more than once too
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> this board is really calling my soldering skills into question, I have 3v3 now 😛
<azonenberg> Did you hand assemble or reflow?
<azonenberg> (I'm now bettign the -7V is a short somewhere due to bad soldering too lol)
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> hand assembled, although I've put together batches of much larger boards without issue so I must have done something
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> (also have only touched the power supplies so far)
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> > the datasheet said they were intended for wireless power, i feel tricked if i had to hook up any of the pins. I thought I bought a wireless inductor!
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> also I still don't know what the heck I'm doing to these chips but 5 and 7V are working, it seems I completely missed a diode on -7V, so I'll investigate that tomorrow.
<azonenberg> So, i'm not going to be doing this yet but i might in the future (late summer perhaps)
<azonenberg> the SDA I'm buying apparently has the L-BUS capability on it
<azonenberg> This is a lecroy proprietary connector (I think) that runs PCIe 1.0 x4 to a PC for hosting it
<azonenberg> And apparently allows significantly better performance than the ethernet interface
<azonenberg> they claim 325 MB/s data transfer rates which is 2.6 Gbps, on par with what i'm getting off the picoscope now
<azonenberg> And apparently there is a linux kernel driver for it
<azonenberg> Might be fun to add support for that to scopehal
<azonenberg> i'd definitely need to upgrade the lab PC to make use of it though
<azonenberg> considering the total lack of pcie lanes on the current mobo
<azonenberg> This is only available on WaveMaster/SDA/DDA and LabMaster series scopes afaik, nothing lower end

<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> okay all the supplies are up, -7 was a missing diode and apparently the core needs 5V, doesn't work on 12V (which is not communicated well in the datasheet)
<d1b2> <david.lenfesty> Onto the rest of the board
<azonenberg> Lol
<azonenberg> Yay
