My Windows 10 machine runs great, only reboots once a month or so. :P

I think I've mentionned before a Windows 7 PC I had up for 335 days, and then it started on fire.

I have a non-internet-connected Linux machine I use exclusively to run Stepmania that has been up for some four years now.

Now that things are all Internet connected, uptime has started to feel like a bad thing to me, because it means it's likely not patched. :P

Linux has some unholy solution now for updating the kernel without a reboot though, right?

ehhhhh, there's ksplice but I've never used it myself

but remotely-exploitable kernel bugs almost never happen. What you really need to update is the various daemons that are listening on ports. You can do that without rebooting.

at least until the daemons start requiring new kernel features, but that takes a while. :)
