I wonder if we should revive the "Sandbag" name for the Collections app

haha, after I read what you meant by Collections app, I thought that was really clever. however, at first, it made me think Collections must have some negative connotations O_O

the idea was suggested on the mailing list a long time ago

Just to let you know, scandium sandstorm was mentioned on the most recent security now podcast, albeit just as a "I'm installing it" from Leo.
<dwrensha>

Haha, was looking through the Oasis app market and thought "Neuron Catalog" was a cute name for a note-taking app. Nope, it's a serious tool for cataloging neurons!

Yay I love it when asking Kinesis for support on a keyboard results in them giving me nice things.

has anyone here pointed the android app at piwik running on sandstorm?
<frew>
I tried setting the url to https://Bearer:$token@$host, but it consistently fails saying it's not valid
rustyrazorblade has joined #sandstorm
<zarvox>
frew: can't say I've tried that. I suspect there might be issues with routing requests - Sandstorm add the "/piwik.php" path to all requests that come in on the API endpoint, so if the Piwik app is using something other than that endpoint (or adding the /piwik.php itself) then that might not work
<frew>
yeah I bet
<zarvox>
to be clear: "host" above is the api-somejibberish.* hostname?
<frew>
it's complaining about index.php
<frew>
yes
<frew>
I migth be able to copy paste the error if that helps
<frew>
nah just
<zarvox>
oh yes, that's probably not going to work so well if it wants index.php
<frew>
`https://Bearer:$token@$domain/index.php is not valid`
<frew>
could we fix that somehow? maybe maybe index.php an alias for piwik.php ?
<frew>
I don't *need* the mobile app but it'd be nice to peak at this stuff without needing to use my laptop
<zarvox>
Well, the issue is that all the untrustworthy traffic for tracked users also comes in via that same request endpoint. I had hoped to limit what all was exposed to the outside world via that endpoint because I don't have a good sense for Piwik's security design/threat model
<zarvox>
Maybe. Or we could decide that we're not worried about the potential risk, and patch the Sandstorm package (in some backwards-compatible way).
<frew>
hm
<frew>
I tried adding /piwik.php to the end and it stopped mentioning index.php
<zarvox>
Or you could access the app in your phone's browser through Sandstorm.
<frew>
zarvox: do I need any more to the url?
<zarvox>
frew: perhaps I was unclear: I don't expect you'll be able to construct any URL that will work without modifying the Sandstorm packaging
<frew>
I assumed their app was terrible on mobile; could totally be wrong
<frew>
ah ok
<frew>
sorry
<frew>
their page reflows sorta
<frew>
I'll try it later
<zarvox>
And that issue is probably a result of decisions I made, not upstream. Sorry!
<frew>
nah it's cool
<frew>
I'll use the web interface for now, but maybe something to consider at some point :)
<zarvox>
frew: are you frioux on github?
<frew>
I am
<zarvox>
cool, I'll file an issue and mention you in it
<frew>
sounds good
<zarvox>
Can't say it'll be a priority for me, but at least it'll be written down :)
<frew>
I accidentally created a new oasis account just now frm my phone and sorta wanna delete it for "cleanliness"; is there a way to do that?
