<jacksingleton>
I can send you the grain id if it helps
<kentonv>
might as well see if it appears in the logs

if something is going terribly wrong in the grain, would it manifest as 504s and 502s?
<kentonv>
it looks like the 502s are because the back-end timed out. On the back-end, I see Blackrock struggling to connect to the grain here and there, as if the grain had exited or crashed
<kentonv>
normally details of such crashes land in the grain debug log
<kentonv>
0.166 and 0.167 had a memory corruption bug, fixed in 0.168 (a couple days ago)
<kentonv>
in sandstorm-http-bridge
<jacksingleton>
jun 17th
<kentonv>
ok, yeah
<jacksingleton>
cool, will rebuild
<kentonv>
sorry, I tried to remember all the updates we received in the past two weeks but missed sandforms
<jacksingleton>
np thanks for the help debugging
<kentonv>
the bug often causes sandstorm-http-bridge to hang rather than crash, which would explain timeouts

<dwrensha>
kentonv: memory corruption, not just leak?
<kentonv>
dwrensha: yeah. Specifically zeroing memory that was previously free'd
<kentonv>
I had an Orphan<Data> that outlived the MessageBuilder it pointed into

amusingly I accidentally fixed the problem while refactoring last week, and then I spent a bunch of time on Friday trying to debug why FileDrop kept hanging but not being able to reproduce the problem with a debug build. :)
<dwrensha>
ugh. we should really write some tests for this stuff
<kentonv>
this would have been hard to catch in a test, though
<kentonv>
since it was non-deterministic

<simonv3>
hey all, is there a reason that when I log in using one of my linked (non-primary) email addresses onto oasis I think I’m not accessing the same account?
jadewang has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<simonv3>
The reason I’m using this e-mail address instead of my primary one is because I don’t have access to the primary one on the device I want to access from

<dwrensha>
simonv3: that sounds odd
<zarvox>
that reminds me, we need to fix the case-sensitive-email thing :S
<dwrensha>
simonv3: are you sure that the email address is linked to your main account?
<simonv3>
dwrensha: both e-mails (and github) appear in the list of e-mails when I’m logged in on oasis on my desktop
<dwrensha>
If you look at that email identity from your main account, does a box appear in the profile editor saying something like "this identity is linked to another account"?
<simonv3>
oh wait, I just saw that there’s a list of identities through which I can toggle, and a list of e-mails at the bottom of the screen (which is what I just referred to). When I go through the process of linking an account and entering the toking now the toggle shows the second e-mail as well
<dwrensha>
ah, so maybe it picked up that email address from a different identity, maybe even from the github identity
<simonv3>
very possibly
<simonv3>
yep, looks like that fixed it
<dwrensha>
what happens when you now try to log in with that email?
<simonv3>
I see the right account
<simonv3>
What I expected to happen, I guess I just hadn’t linked it and the e-mail address listed at the bottom threw me off
<dwrensha>
I can see how that might be confusing
<dwrensha>
so this is good feedback
<zarvox>
I wonder if it would have been clearer if notifications and identities were on separate pages
<zarvox>
I kind of wish we encouraged accounts with overlapping verified email addresses to merge
frigginglorious has quit [Quit: frigginglorious]
<simonv3>
zarvox: yeah, maybe even just a header with “send notifications to” would have helped I think
<simonv3>
or, I guess that bar is a header, maybe a slightly stronger font style?

simonv3: or adding some horizontal rule
<zarvox>
But yeah, I agree it would be better if the sections were more clearly separate things, and I personally feel like some of those sections ought to get split into separate pages
