guys, i'm trying to install the rails 4 beta on ruby 2.0, and according to --verbose, gem install is pulling the gemspec for every published version of Rails' declared dependencies—is this right?

i'm trying to get rubygems and bundler and ruby2.0.0-p0 to all play nice together

so from watching twitter last week i deduced that i need rubygems 2, bundler 2 and ruby 2, right?

but when i try to `gem install rubygems-update` for the new version of RubyGems, i get "installing into parent path /Users/necromancer/Sites/api.elocal.com/vendor/gems/gems/rubygems-update-2.0.0/.autotest of vendor/gems/gems/rubygems-update-2.0.0 is not allowed"

rubygems-update is only installed by `gem update --system`

at least, I've never heard of anyone installing it with `gem install`, so maybe that won't work (like you show)

i just blew away the .ruby-version, installed Bundler with rubygems 1.8, rebuilt the .ruby-version with rbenv, and now i'm `bundle install`ing

so we'll see if that lets me run ruby programs again

drbrain: i was in a paradox, i hadn't updated bundler to 1.3 and installed RubyGems w/ruby-build so it never checked/cared about what Bundler version i had

which is why i was saying had ruby-build just updated bundler before doing all that stuff (since, if you're using Bundler, you need at least 1.3 to use rubygems 2.0), or at least had a --using-bundler flag i could use
