Hi, based on the FOSDEM talk I was wondering what the state of multimonitor support is or more concretely if it's possible to mirror outputs in river (or achieve such mirroring by for example showing the same tag on each of the monitor)?

balaziks: multimonitor support is like in the average wlroots compositor. river recognizes multiple outputs perfectly fine. Mirroring will not work (unless you are using one of the screen-recording hacks); That is just something wlroots in general has no support for yet AFAIK.
<leon-p>
small addendum: you can not "show the same tag" on each output, because tags are not shared between outputs.

leon-p: Wayfire has screen mirroring but I have no idea how they do it.
<leon-p>
wayfire isn't representative of the average wlroots based compositor. They have their own renderer and magic going on.
<balaziks>
Yeah, it seemed like they were doing something different. Thanks and good luck with river!

Bonicgamer[m]: hey, just went to test your branch but the wlroots pointer-constraints is segfaulting for me when I run it regardless of the arguments I give it
<ifreund>
does this happen for you too?
<ifreund>
the wlroots example I mean
<Bonicgamer[m]>
It doesn't happen to me right now, but I think that happened to me once before and then I used 0.12 instead of master and it worked.
<ifreund>
oh that could be it, maybe a protocol version mismatch

i don't know about others but I appreciate the display-local layout behaviour in river :)
<skuzzymiglet>
I don't know whether it was intentional but it's nice to be able to have a monocle layout on your main screen and tile all the background stuff on the other
