KotCzarny: montjoie: now that I think about it, I wonder why everybody is going crazy for atomic pi in the first place. There is a whole new world of possibility emerging, so why not try something different for a change?
<KotCzarny>
because rarely you find someone to do same sisyphus work again?
<KotCzarny>
and if vendor doesnt help, then there's nothing new.

hi to all, im making my own board for V3s and I want to know if its possible to use 1.2V 1A for Vcore, 1.8V 1A for Vdram and 3.3V 1A for Vcc. Searching I found other use 1.2A for Vcore and Vdram.

gaston1980: there is a dev in here that has experience with v3s but not always around, so my suggestion would be to wait around and see if someone can answer. Often times in different time zones so could be several hours before they are even awake/around.

KotCzarny: i would assume that the person porting (or whatever) to the different ISA or SBC actually _enjoys_ the work and/or isn't burned out by it yet. also, if the vendor isn't helpful then indeed it's not much fun, but i don't know of too many libre computing devices where the vendor makes such things difficult for their developers.
<ullbeking>
anyway, i just found a few good candidates for my application
<ullbeking>
but thank you for your help KotCzarny

enjoying is one thing, feeding the family is another

learning firmware engineering, even though i'm still pretty much at beginner level, has been a HUGE part of reminding why i got into computing in the first place. learning Libreboot, coreboot, OpenBMC, OPi, etc, have all been critical to that.

i'll leave it there
<ullbeking>
:-)
<KotCzarny>
ya. toys
<ullbeking>
serious toys
<KotCzarny>
that's why linux-sunxi is a big thing
<KotCzarny>
you can get to the basics, write bare metal apps
<KotCzarny>
etc
<ullbeking>
exactly
<KotCzarny>
or just go with full blown linux
<ullbeking>
it's why i love my OPi +2E's so much
<ullbeking>
and why mt X200 is my best and favorite computer

welp in in case of sun4i-codec it just doesn't add up for me, especially right/left mixer with left having just left dac while right has both L/R
<swiftgeek>
i have no idea what L/R means at this point
<libv>
ullbeking: is via still doing sound chips these days?
<libv>
so some level of cynical interest is still remaining in the activities of that broken company
* hellsenberg
has an asus kfsn4-dre with a XGI Volari video thing
<libv>
azalia codecs is a standard for... hdmi/hda audio codecs?
<libv>
so it must be at least from 2006
<hellsenberg>
azalia is a standard for HDA, iirc
<hellsenberg>
in any case, via's website lists audio stuff as legacy
<libv>
all that will remain of them is the mini-itx form factor
<libv>
bad execution, start to finish
<libv>
*sigh*
<swiftgeek>
hellsenberg: ~original codename for hda
<hellsenberg>
ah yes, the vx900 chipset stuff
<hellsenberg>
I thought it was much older than it really is; it uses DDR3
<libv>
vx900 is pretty recent from where i sit
<libv>
cle266 is when they integrated some s3 savage descendant after their buyout of s3
<libv>
their first mini-itxes were based on PLE233, which integrated a trident graphics block
<libv>
they actually shipped the MVP4 before that
<libv>
which they marketed as VIAGra
<libv>
6 months before viagra hit the market
<hellsenberg>
such a bad timing
<libv>
ah, also trident
<libv>
like allwinner, they could've been relevant still
<libv>
if they had done some things differently
<libv>
like actually back open source development with more than just horrible code

<ullbeking>
idk about their involvement with audio chipset these days
