<miasma> hi, is this a known issue? with uboot v2016.07+, I get this error when compiling defconfig for orange pi "{standard input}:320: Error: push/pop do not support {reglist}^ -- `pop {r0,r1,r2,r3,r4,r9,ip,pc}^'"
<miasma> 2016.05 works

<jonkerj> miasma: if you're on ubuntu, it seems the cleanest way to get u-boot to compile is 1) install gcc-4.9-arm-linux-gnueabihf 2) manually add these as alternatives for the several tools
<miasma> jonkerj: i'm on arch. i just didn't realize that the packages become outdated so fast :P
<miasma> there's a more recent one available, compiling atm'

<powerpan_> longsleep: only wanna confirm one thing, full Ubuntu image could not be made but could be created on pine64?
<powerpan_> I'm looking a way to build a phonix Ubuntu image.
<longsleep> whats a phonix Ubuntu image?
<longsleep> powerpan_: i do not know what you mean
<powerpan_> that's a full image that could be extract by PhonixCard tools directly to a TF card
<KotCzarny> um
<KotCzarny> ever heard of dd?
<powerpan_> yes
<KotCzarny> unless you ask how to extract phoenix based image using linux?
<powerpan_> that's not good for emmc board configuration
<longsleep> powerpan_: there is no way i am aware how one could create a phoenix card image for Ubuntu - why would anyone want to do that?
<powerpan_> dd is for TF card, that's not a problem.
<KotCzarny> you can write emmc with dd
<powerpan_> but if we wanna make pine64 with emmc, then how we could transfer the whole image into emmc ?
<powerpan_> how system boot with emmc ?
<KotCzarny> does pine64 have microsd slot?
<powerpan_> while emmc is empty after SMT
<longsleep> powerpan_: just boot it with emmc attached
<powerpan_> what I could do if the emmc is blank ?
<longsleep> powerpan_: or attach the emmc to another linux pc and write on it
<rellla> mwcampbell: afaik nobody is working on it. it's only present on A10/A20 ...
MiLeon has joined #linux-sunxi
<powerpan_> that's fixed into the PCBA
<longsleep> powerpan_: why dos it matter if its blank or not?
<powerpan_> soldered
<KotCzarny> pine64 has microsd, boot from the image on microsd, then write to emmc with dd
<longsleep> powerpan_: well - then what KotCzarny says
<KotCzarny> you can even automate that microsd image to do all by itself
<KotCzarny> so you can have usd installer cards
<powerpan_> emmc might have the highest priority when boot, if that's empty, then the system will not boot
<KotCzarny> if anyone makes a board with microsd card that isnt the highest priority, it would be a fail
jstein_ has joined #linux-sunxi
jstein is now known as Guest36628
<buZz> you can have two microsd slots, cant you?
<buZz> do both have highest prio then? :D

mosajjal has quit [Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client]
<KotCzarny> i think microsd has higher priority (someone was trying to find out how to boot from emmc with microsd inserted, but i dont remember on which soc it was)
jstein_ is now known as jstein
<powerpan_> KotCzarny: no, emmc is the highest, tf is the second and then spi flash
<KotCzarny> can anyone with pine64 confirm this?
<powerpan_> now pine64 blank emmc slot
<Wizzup> 18:02 < powerpan_> emmc might have the highest priority when boot, if that's empty, then the system will not boot
<Wizzup> that is not true
<Wizzup> if it cannot find a bootloader there, it will try elsewhere
<Wizzup> but I think that usually the usd is firs

<huawei> hp197, yep
<apritzel> the boot priority on the A64 seems to depend on external pin levels
<apritzel> on the BananaPi SD card is first, then eMMC
<apritzel> BananaPi M64 that is
<apritzel> on the Remix Mini PC eMMC has priority over uSD, though
<apritzel> (but this may be due to H64 vs. A64)

<KotCzarny> oh, pine64 doesnt have emmc
<apritzel> KotCzarny: exactly
<apritzel> that's why I was talking about the BPi-M64, which is the only A64 board with eMMC available so far
<apritzel> and the boot order is mostly a SoC thing

<KotCzarny> or its generic thingie that is working with some generic driver

<KotCzarny> alternative would be switching to mainline kernel release (but not everything would work, but it depends what you need)

<apritzel1> montjoie: for MMC to work you need all the new series: A64 (with BPi .dts), MMC firmware clocks and updated ATF
<apritzel1> montjoie: and then still eMMC will not work properly
<apritzel1> montjoie: if you enable it, it gets detected and shows the partitions, but hangs rather quickly
<apritzel1> supposedly MoeIcenowy's patches fix this
<apritzel1> you could as well use an older series (a64-v5) and use the pine64-plus.dts
