<sleeply4cat> ok.
<sleeply4cat> Well..
<gjm> failed
<sleeply4cat> I am performing new-device-howto -
<sleeply4cat> rarr, I hate my keyboard.
<sleeply4cat> Now I'm trying to compile awutils.
<sleeply4cat> And I can't do it ._.
<sleeply4cat> awflash.c:115:10: error: unknown type name ‘libusb_device_handle’ fex_xfer(libusb_device_handle *hdl, void *buffer, size_t len, uint8_t dir)
<sleeply4cat> When trying to >make
<sleeply4cat> I have installed libusb.
<sleeply4cat> What could be a reason?
domidumont has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<lkcl> sleeply4cat: you need to provide the full gcc compilation errors not just a sub-section
<lkcl> place them online somewhere (DO NOT try to cut/paste the entire lot here) and then send the URL
<lkcl> if you do not have access to personal online resources (web server) then try pastebin.ca or similar
<lkcl> once you've done that, _then_ people can help you. it also helps if you provide full information. where did you get this package named avutils from, what version is it
<lkcl> where did you get libusb from, what version is it.
<lkcl> where did you get gcc from, what version is it.
<lkcl> and so on. the usual standard things that allow anyone with any knowledge to replicate *exactly* what it is that you, yourself, did.
<lkcl> otherwise there are too many variables and even one difference could mean they are completely wasting their time
<lkcl> all that should be somewhere on an FAQ... on pretty much every coding-related IRC channel under the sun... :)

<libv> lkcl: so you swapped sata for usb?
<libv> lkcl: is there going to be any sata offered with the a20 eoma-68?
<libv> iirc, you were offering hdmi as a standalone connector on the opposite side

<atsampson> huh -- that awutils code is a bit strange...
<atsampson> it's using the libusb 1.x API (libusb_*), but it's including the libusb 0.1 header
<libv> atsampson: fix it :)
<atsampson> if sleeply4cat comes back, suggest using libusb.h rather than usb.h
<atsampson> I wonder if older versions of the 0.1 emulation pulled in the 1.x headers somehow?

<atsampson> hm, so it's actually because the last commit in Ithamar's repo is work in progress, and isn't in a compilable state
<atsampson> try https://github.com/atsampson/awutils , which is branched off the previous commit and should find libusb0.1 properly...

<libv> hansg: it's amazing how you keep this up.
* libv gets annoyed all the time by reading some of the simplefb threads
<libv> i think at the kernel side, we will soon hit twice the amount of emails than the original simplefb driver had lines.
<libv> and now some similar shit is flying on the u-boot side
<libv> this code is smallish, and it is labelled simple
<libv> and everyone then suddenly has an opinion

<hansg> libv, I keep this up because: 1) I'm very stubborn, 2) Every time I raise the issue again I do so because I believe I'm almost there wrt getting this merged upstream
<hansg> But yes this has been long in the making, very very long. Too long really.
<libv> in comparison to the changeset, it is totally out of proportion
<libv> but still, it's good that you keep it up
* libv would've told people to go f themselves almost every step of the way
<libv> with reason too, but that wouldn't have gotten this thing very far

<syeekick> 1hey
<syeekick> would that guide be the exact same for my cubietruck?
<libv> syeekick: how about you go fish for yourself?
<syeekick> well i am trying it now...it'd be nice if someone knew first hand that it will work or not

<libv> syeekick: don't ask people to spoonfeed you, learn to solve problems for yourself and to ask proper questions
<syeekick> calm down. it was a question you can't answer. I know for a fact there are people in here who owns a cubietruck
<libv> syeekick: i do own a cubietruck.
<atsampson> syeekick: it'll be pretty similar if you're running a Debian/Ubuntu distribution on the CT...
<libv> like a lot of us here, we got those donated to us by tom cubie.
<syeekick> thanks atsampson
<atsampson> it'd be worth checking if there's a newer packaged version of OwnCloud first, though
<libv> atsampson: and he will be back in a few h with his next "please spoonfeed me" question
<syeekick> thanks dude i appreciate the help
<atsampson> I'm a bit antsy about installing PHP modules etc. by hand for something that's running a network service; better to use the package manager
<syeekick> 1i'll bear that in mind if things go pear shaped

<jelly-home> syeekick: the thing is, most of that guide is not dependent on hardware and would work on an x86 or a ppc mac or an arm board. It would be better to ask a more generic distro or linux channel. A development channel for a specific platform like this one really deals with more intricate details for the platform like drivers and making hardware on a specific board work at all.
<Seppoz> hello, im using QLocale().toString((float)kwp_from.toFloat(),'f',2) to format a swting, for some reason its vry very slow, is there a way to not use qlocale?

<lkcl> libv: yeah i routed the SATA to a 20-pin FPC, along with TS-0 / CSI-0 (i think... it's been a few months since i did that).
<lkcl> libv: jammily there's just enough room on the opposite side of the micro-sd for a tiny 20pin FPC.
<lkcl> libv: and yes, the micro-sd, micro-usb and micro-hdmi are still on. i also managed to re-route MMC0 to the EOMA68 connector so that you can boot direct from it.
<lkcl> libv: i confirmed that as working successfully a couple of weeks ago using the MicroDesktop dock.

<lkcl> so something approximating the complete spec is 3 USB (one of them USB-OTG), VGA out, HDMI out, 10/100 Eth, 2 Micro-SD card slots, 2gb RAM, 4gb NAND and 2 (small!) expansion headers
<syeekick> it took me a while but tis all up and running XD

<sleeply4cat> hramrach_: I have pulled contents of /dev/block/nanda. It contains script.bit. Can I use it?
<sleeply4cat> *bin
<sleeply4cat> Or it is another file?
<hramrach_> that's where you usually get script.bin
<sleeply4cat> So, I have 2 script.bin: from dump and from nanda.
<hramrach_> if your flash is bitrotten and android no longer works it might be good idea to reflash original rom
konradoo77 has joined #linux-sunxi

<sleeply4cat> So, can I use script.bin from FS?

<hramrach_> yes, you will need one
