<hojoruk> Hi guys. Any plans for rockchip to implement cortex a76 for the next cpu/soc?

<Ke> hojoruk: not sure there is anyone from rockchip here
<hojoruk> Thanks ke, sorry for bothering you all
<Ke> hojoruk: if rockchip strategy stays the same, I would assume what you say is plausible
<Ke> obviously they can just skip that particular core on their next high end SoC
<hojoruk> Ke: Rockchip released RK3288 in 2014 and an arm chromebook using RK3288 was released in 2015. In 2016 Rockchip released RK3399 and RK3399 based chromebook released in 2017. Now the end of 2018 is near, I hope some sbc available in early 2019
<Ke> I guess it would be expected to have the next model out pretty sure, looking at their past releases
<Ke> perhaps
<Ke> if there were public info, I am sure it would be out there'
<hojoruk> Rockchip has good track record. I will wait

<s_frit> is anyone aware of "delidding" RK3399 to improve thermal performance? in the pc world there has been a trend of removing the heat spreader from intel CPUs and replacing the thermal interface compound with liquid metal -- i'm wondering if the same technique might be useful for RK3399.

<asciilifeform> sooo i finally have arbitrary boot rom read/erase/write on google's c101pa , via the http://www.loper-os.org/?p=2415 cable.
<asciilifeform> now, anybody ever built standard uboot for this machine ?
<asciilifeform> it's a rk3399 , but stock uboot's evb-rk3399 produces a rom that gives 0 debug uart output, so there's almost certainly some difference in the iron b/w the dev board and the c101pa, which matters.
