<naobsd> http://en.t-firefly.com/en/firenow/firefly_rk3288/ firefly rk3288 _reload_? ... hdmi-in? oh
<naobsd> maybe hdmi-in - mipi-csi bridge?
<sjoerd> I guess
<sjoerd> interesting to see it's a SOM + mainboard like the rock2 now as well

<xming> sjoerd: hi there, have you got any time looking into 4GB RAM on rk3288 by any chance?
sunilmohan has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
<afaerber> mmind00: ugh, it seems you were not in CC of some of the GeekBox patches, including the cover letter, sorry. sendemail.cc with --cc does not seem to work right... you'll find all of them on linux-rockchip list
<mmind00> afaerber: I was wondering about that :-)
<afaerber> it's still broken, cc'ing the stmmac maintainers now
<sjoerd> xming: no i only just got roudn to refreshing my network u-boot patch
<sjoerd> though i got some documentation outlining a potentially ncer memory init way for the rockchip devices, which could be promising
<afaerber> sjoerd, sjg1: not sure if I asked already; has anyone looked into rk3368 u-boot yet? I'm pretty lost where to start looking
<xming> sjoerd: I can't wait :D
<xming> sjoerd: crossing my fingers :D

cnxsoft1 is now known as cnxsoft
<aep> any idea how to extract a "parameter" file from an existing device?
<aep> the rockchip update packer thing wants to reflash that apparantly
<aep> cant tell it not to do that

<sjg1> afaerber: I think we need SDRAM init. Not sure where to get that from though
<afaerber> sjg1: the vendor's u-boot uses some blob then? that hasn't stopped the sunxi people from upstreaming the non-spl u-boot parts in the past
<afaerber> e.g., A80
<sjoerd> afaerber: Assuming they're doing the same as on the older devices, then yes it's a blob
<sjg1> Yes it is a blob. I'm sure the U-Boot proper could be made to work
<afaerber> so what is the relation between u-boot and arm-trusted-firmware?
<sjg1> But binary blobs are not my favourite thing...
<afaerber> sure
wadim_ has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<mmind00> if the order of the bootlog (I remember) is an indication, it seems the ATF gets loaded before uboot?
<sjg1> afaerber: Oh dear, ATF also. We are drowning in complexity
<sjg1> But even that doesn't seem to include DRAM init. Or is it hidden?
<afaerber> I do get DDR init serial output first thing on reboot; but I am missing the bigger picture of how these small pieces all fit together, i.e. who loads whom
<sjg1> For mainline U-Boot there is only SPL and then U-Boot
<sjg1> It is probably similar to board/hisilicon/hikey/README
<sjg1> That has ATF
<sjg1> Perhaps we need to look at porting ATF functionality into SPL?
<sjg1> afaerber: Sorry, I mean that your link probably boots the same way as the Hisilicon thing

<afaerber> indeed quite complicated, it seems
<afaerber> but it reads like all those atf and l-loader steps come after u-boot itself

<mmind00> afaerber: but looking at the bootlog ordering, I always got the impression, it was ddr-blob, atf and uboot last
<afaerber> mmind00: that matches my impression, too. above I was referring to the build steps for HiKey, which seem to imply that porting U-Boot would not directly depend on ATF at least
<afaerber> for Amlogic I think I saw atf being shipped as part of the u-boot tarball
