I'm gonna take the fuse work that was done and try to integrate it into this so you end up mounting via fuse on things like BSD, Windows, etc. and use 9P on platforms that support it. But that's later.

You should be able to just build that branch as you would normally, but you'll have to include the filesystem plugin in the plugin loader, let me see

Oh no it looks like fresh installs were broken. I'm assuming this is my bug. Going to make sure this functions with an existing .ipfs dir, but my VM is fighting with me.

This should work to build https://pastebin.com/s79y4qBL but it's not showing the `ipfs files` root for some reason, just /ipfs and /ipns. I might have explicitly disabled it even though it sets it up internally. Will mess with this another day and pm you about it when things are a little more graceful.

I try to think of how to use netnews articles with IPFS. Articles never change, although new articles may be added over time (and old articles may be unpinned).

Each article is named by a message ID; also some of the headers are probably not applicable to IPFS so should be omitted to produce the CID, such as "Path", "Xref", "Received", and "X-Received" (some implementations use "X-Received" instead of "Received").
