I mean you don't necessarily need to get a new drive you can always upload from a separate computer which would probably save you the cost of a new drive.

Partitioning your drive, and dedicating a single partition to the IPFS data store could help as well. Can't remember the exact reasoning why but partitioning HDDs and devoting certain partitions to a specific task can give a small boost in performance

You can find some dirt cheap second hand servers on Amazon, Craigslist, etc.. I bought an 8 core hyper-threaded xeon server with 8gb of RAM, and 2TB of storage for $175 off Craigslist two years ago and use it for my home media server and shit
