how odd
<ltkeklulz>
So, apparently my old CPID says 0 mag in the NN, but it shows 130 mag every super block. This has been the case for over a month now. Block explorer says it has 500 research owed. Is this some kind of bug?

Running WUprop only isn't going to give you much magnitude. WUProp's purpose is to track how long it takes different hardware to compute WUs in other projects. I'm not sure if you even get credit when you aren't going to be tracking WUs at any other project.

customminer, for some reason nfs@home does not show up on the cpid dashboard for my cpid
<HeyMerlin>
just trying to figure out why. NeuralMiner was kind enough to verify that I'm getting credit.
<NeuralMiner>
he's in the NN for it.
<customminer>
Chances are the site's stats are lagging behind the actual neural network stats
<HeyMerlin>
Was wondering about that. I can continue to wait and see what happens. The other project I joined on the 11th has been showing up for a couple of days now.

<Peppernrino>
what did i say?:
<Peppernrino>
<Peppernrino> i have 2 modems plugged into pfsense

<Peppernrino>
<Peppernrino> so i need both of those connections to share a vpn
<HeyMerlin>
Hey... more questions but about BAM this time... so far I have not used it but am looking at it...
<HeyMerlin>
1. on boincstats I see my usersname (not registered) and user id. When I create an account should it be using the same user id and name?
<HeyMerlin>
I registered a name (not UofS...) and received a different user id. Now I'm not sure if/how to link that registered user with the UofS user, or if I need to.
<NeuralMiner>
you'll want to use the same ID/password on BAM that you would use on each individual project.
<NeuralMiner>
which, they too should all be the same.
<NeuralMiner>
you dont NEED to link the two in BAM, since that's just for stats. what matters is your GRC wallet having the correct CPID.
<NeuralMiner>
sorry, BOINCstats, not BAM.
MrControll has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<NeuralMiner>
if you use a different user ID on BAM and connect your hosts to it, you'll start making GRC for that new CPID, not your UofS one. does that make sense?
<Peppernrino>
who's on UofS team????
<Peppernrino>
heymerlin?
<Peppernrino>
:D
<HeyMerlin>
Okay, so initially (due to lack of coffee?) I registered HeyMerlin but noticed I could change the name username to UofS-Computer-Science
<HeyMerlin>
Yes Peppernrino UofS is me.
<Peppernrino>

<Peppernrino>
our team was about to pass the old UofS team, so icalled them to issue a challenge of sorts.
<Peppernrino>
nobody knew what i was talking about.
<Peppernrino>
3 months later, they have a baller BOINC team.
<Peppernrino>
i talked to like 10 different departments...
<Peppernrino>
i'm SURE i had something to do with it.
<HeyMerlin>
The UofS Computer Science team is a team I started for our labs... There is a UofS team created initially by one of our HPC guys.. it may be that one that you are talking about.
<HeyMerlin>
There are a few teams on campus.
<NeuralMiner>
does your CPID on boincstats show the right one?
<HeyMerlin>
NeuralMiner, yes... all the same email address

<HeyMerlin>
yes
<HeyMerlin>
that CPID does not show up when I log in and look at the main account page.

UofS-Computer-Science is what I'd like to get to as that is my username... the id I have when I "registered" is 206065 using the same email address.
<NeuralMiner>
and what does it say for username in your account preferences?
<HeyMerlin>
Okay, initially it was HeyMerlin but I then realized the mistake, edited it on the site and changed it to UofS-Computer-Science
<NeuralMiner>
sorry, main account page
<NeuralMiner>
that's weird then.
leetsp33ch has joined #gridcoin
<HeyMerlin>
I'm wondering if it is because I initially registered with the wrong username but right email... unfortunately once the email was registered I could only edit the username, not create a new account.
<HeyMerlin>
If I knew how, it is likely as simple as getting the UofS-Computer-Science CPID associated with the account
<NeuralMiner>
well, if your username and email are correct, you should (in theory) be fine.

<NeuralMiner>
do you have a spare machine you can link to that BAM account?
<NeuralMiner>

<HeyMerlin>
Would I do that by installing the BAM acount manager on it? If so, I have done that on 2 clients. The BAM account on the site shows the two clients, but no projects, team, etc.
<HeyMerlin>
Seems like if there is an odd problem out there, I'm a fricking expert at finding it. :-)
<NeuralMiner>
yep. so through the boincstats page, add a project to it.
<NeuralMiner>
lol
<NeuralMiner>
UofS-CS... that's not you too is it?
<HeyMerlin>
Okay, I have to run off to a meeting... will try after that and let you know what happens.
<NeuralMiner>
cool
<HeyMerlin>
No, I have to look that one up and see who created it.
<HeyMerlin>
all the UofS ones are our campus but different departments.
<HeyMerlin>
I think that one was created by one of our students. I was trying to figure out who so I could get them to join my team instead of running a new one.
<NeuralMiner>
i say add a machine through boincstats/bam, then check the project and see if it's listed under your account.
<NeuralMiner>
looks like it was started in 2014.

doesnt do any work anymore it looks like.

<customminer>
Can people start posting to the announcement thread if they're 100% stuck? Especially with debug logs uploaded somewhere.
<jhiswin2>
alright
<jhiswin2>
really weird thing is the client seems to get the wrong cpid on restart
<jhiswin2>
or just periodically
<Gunde>
that´s strange, it might get the correct cpid from boinc if a new cpid was created to your account
<jhiswin2>
list cpids has all the right cpids
<Gunde>
yea, should not be worry anyway. If it´s get wrong it will fall back to the old cpid.
<HeyMerlin>
"blocks" : 555129, running Win 10 x64 with no apparent problem here.
<DeviantOne>
- Added code to keep the node in sync. Periodically, if the client falls out of sync for more then 30 minutes, the client asks other nodes for blocks, clears orphans, clears ban flags, reconnects to the network, reloads the chain and resyncs.
<DeviantOne>
b. Added execute recover (this manually attempts to recover).
<DeviantOne>
^what I was referring to
<DeviantOne>
if you are far away from being in sync, maybe try that 'execute recover'

add all the nodes

try that..

<jhiswin2>

<jhiswin2>
I can still send/receive using the coins currently in the wallet right?
<DeviantOne>
I wouldn't do anything till I was sync'd
<DeviantOne>
but I don't know the actual answer to that...
okae has quit [Quit: bye!]
<jhiswin2>
it would just act like an orphaned block right?
<DeviantOne>
Either accepted or rejected is what it does come down to
<DeviantOne>
If it broadcasts to other peers
<DeviantOne>
and they are actually in sync
<DeviantOne>
There's a shot I would think the tx being recorded when staked
<customminer>
quite possible it'd send, but if it's coins that have been sent later in the blockchain (further ahead than you're currently synced to) they'll get rejected.
<customminer>
to be safe, i'd wait.
<DeviantOne>
any payment sent to your wallet would at the very least stake in a block you aren't at yet. But when you sync.. I expect it'd be there. Waiting in that future block
<DeviantOne>
But you gotta get in sync.
<DeviantOne>
step 1
<DeviantOne>
Ironically
<DeviantOne>
I was having sync issues on the last version
<DeviantOne>
and since upgrading.. have been stable
<DeviantOne>
But prior, my client the last couple weeks dropped in and out of sync
<DeviantOne>
with active connections
<DeviantOne>
So whatever the network is doing..
<DeviantOne>
I think is a prexisting condition to this particular version
<DeviantOne>
In that case I would advise trying to stick with the latest version. It may just matter how many peers are on the same version. And going backward slows progress
<DeviantOne>
for whatever my opinon is worth..
<DeviantOne>
which I know may be shit
<DeviantOne>
:)
<jhiswin2>
haha sounds like one of those mental monologues when you're deciding whether you should tell someone something
<jhiswin2>
thanks though
<jhiswin2>
probably some kind of pre-existing sync issue that is starting to merge with the new version
<DeviantOne>
I'm here a lot
<DeviantOne>
pick up on trends of issues
<DeviantOne>
been suspecting a fork and watching these reports of sync issues
<DeviantOne>
that have just accelerated over the last .. maybe 2 weeks or so
<DeviantOne>
I still don't know what it is.
<DeviantOne>
but there's a glitch in the matrix
<DeviantOne>
lol
<jhiswin2>
