<lkcl> jfred[m]: ah no it can't - it's chamfered to fit specifically into grooves around the edge of the casework. it's not a symmetrical chamfering.
<lkcl> you would however be able to disassemble the casework and replace the plywood
<jfred[m]> mmm yeah that's what I meant
<jfred[m]> not physically rotate but replace periodically

<lkcl> jfred[m]: yeahh that's possible. the panel is jammed in quite hard into the grooves (it's part of the structure after all), you'll need to take the left and right edges off entirely to get the panels out
<lkcl> that's for the base. the top (on the LCD) is easier

<C-Keen> What is this code of conduct thread really about?
<C-Keen> The question of process within the EOMA project?
<C-Keen> or something else?

<lkcl> C-Keen: i'm trying to find a diplomatic way to say "There Will Be No Code Of Conduct" that serves a secondary purpose of inviting people who understand the scale and scope of the EOMA68 project to make their voices known that they'd like to help out
<lkcl> C-Keen: i'm not sure if it really sinks in to people's minds that the EOMA initiatives are about reaching mass-volume quantities. mass-volume doesn't really have a number associated with it in most people's minds, but if i start mentioning "100 million units a year and above" that's where "mass volume" starts.
<C-Keen> lkcl: I am way too much in favour of consensus based nonviolent discussions to even consider a COC
<lkcl> C-Keen: it's a bit much for many people to grasp, so i tend not to mention it very often.
<C-Keen> lkcl: anarchism in its purest form :)
<lkcl> C-Keen: exactly.
<C-Keen> in my experience such written rules/laws tend to attract people that want to game the system, expecially among hacker types
<lkcl> C-Keen: anyone who understands what consensus is genuinely about, and who feels that anything and *everything* can be placed as secondary to "a goal" will *automatically* understand that a CoC serves no purpose at all.
<C-Keen> lkcl: agreed
<C-Keen> lkcl: also I find this very distracting from the project work...
<C-Keen> lkcl: speaking of which is there anything you need help with?
<lkcl> C-Keen: appreciated... i have flu at the moment, so am finding it difficult to concentrate on getting PCB3 done
<lkcl> things i need are more at the practical level, such as "a place to live" and "somewhere to put the extremely large suitcases which don't fit into the flat where we're a guest"
<lkcl> C-Keen: i've got a draft message i started which explains i'm still recovering from flu. which reminds me: i have to go get something to drink, and lie down again. sorry!
<C-Keen> lkcl: best wishes
