<frankdrey-g1> I was at my cousins bday party.
<frankdrey-g1> And a friend I haven't seen in a while was there.
<Espenfjo> You banged your cousin?
<frankdrey-g1> Me and him were talking, and then my cousin says "you two should get together"
<Espenfjo> Oo
<frankdrey-g1> And I meant to say something along the lines of "I'm not gay"
<frankdrey-g1> But I say "haven't we talked about this before?"
<frankdrey-g1> And then I'm like dafuq in my mind and say:
<frankdrey-g1> "I mean, I told you I'm not like that."
<frankdrey-g1> And this one super cute girl that was smiling at me earlier looked at me like O_O

<bealtine> dunno but at a guess you could try clear dalvik cache and reboot
<shaaan> bealtine that doesn't help
<shaaan> i am trying to build cm
<shaaan> i also cannot make the dir manually. i get a segmentation fault for su
<bealtine> youre building from source?
<shaaan> yes
<peterperfect> we have a badass here
<peterperfect> xD
<bealtine> dunno then
<shaaan> peterperfect erm ?
<peterperfect> kiddin
<shaaan> ahh..
<shaaan> i am 2 bugs away to get it booting
<shaaan> ;/
<peterperfect> Espenfjo ^^^
<peterperfect> can you help him?
<Espenfjo> It should populate the dalvik cache by itself, so that error isnt the most significant one
<Espenfjo> Get the whole log and pastebin it
<bealtine> it is afterall a runtime error
<shaaan> it just keeps on looping
<shaaan> and is stuck on the splash screen
<Espenfjo> Does dmesg say something?
<Espenfjo> Perhaps it cant mount some of your partitions
<Espenfjo> I/Vold ( 1549): Vold 2.1 (the revenge) firing up
<Espenfjo> E/Vold ( 1549): Unknown type 'ums_path'
<Espenfjo> E/Vold ( 1549): Syntax error on config line 17
<Espenfjo> E/Vold ( 1549): Error reading configuration (Unknown error: -22)... continuing anyways
<Espenfjo> That may be important, vold is the thing mounting your stuff
<shaaan> erm no. adb mount says that all the necessary partitions are mounted
<shaaan> the vold gives error about the sd
<shaaan> i cannot get a dmesg. it just creates a blank file with no data
<bealtine> i see lots of unable to find .so errors so obviously your config/partition layout is not correct
<shaaan> you mean the mediaserver error ?
<bbqbot> derp
<Espenfjo> mediaserver/audio shouldnt matter
<Espenfjo> shaaan: is /cache mounted?
<Espenfjo> and is it rw
<shaaan> yes Espenfjo
<shaaan> no
<shaaan> it isnt rw
<Espenfjo> Let me check what mine is, somewhat certain it should be rw
<shaaan> i cannot get su perms in adb. it gives a segmentation fault
<shaaan> although i can run adb as root
<Espenfjo> Yeah, mine is rw
<Espenfjo> /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name/cache /cache ext4 rw,nosuid,nodev,noatime,errors=panic,barrier=1,nomblk_io_submit,data=ordered 0 0
<shaaan> i cannot set it to rw manually
<shaaan> as i said su gives a segmentation fault
<Espenfjo> :/ Then you are out of luck
<shaaan> well there must be some fix
<Espenfjo> I guess it is vold that should remount it, so you should look into the error it is giving
<shaaan> erm. alright. brb
<shaaan> the vold is all about the sdcard
<Espenfjo> Is vold running?
<shaaan> i guess
<shaaan> yes it is running
<Espenfjo> Try removing ums_path from vold.fstab, just to be sure
<shaaan> ok

<petar> ok.. so you dont actually overwrite ODIN when flashing CWM?
<petar> but what do you overwrite with CWM then?
sud3n has joined #teamhacksung-support
<bealtine> odin is a program for the pc
<bealtine> for flashing
<petar> oh, so its not adb with fastboot.. or however its called on the nexus phones?
<petar> all right, there is heimdall for unix..
<bealtine> yes
<petar> is there any place where i could lookup the general layout of system/data/recovery/odin on a note 10.1? i'd really like to know what i'm flashing where before actually doing it..
<petar> as far as i can remember.. in the early android days phones had some sort of bios (called fastboot) and recovery images on a separate partition. they were dd'ed from a file on the system partition every time you did a shutdown..
<Jiangyi> For Samsung devices, you basically take a stock ROM package (Which contains sbl, recovery, the system itself, kernel, etc.) and you use Odin to flash it on. As for where everything goes, that's done by the program automatically.
<Jiangyi> For Heimdall, you can get specific as to where everything goes through commands I believe.

<Xello> The American Humane Association monitored the filming of scenes involving Brooks’ crow. During the scene where he fed it a maggot, the AHA objected on the grounds that it was cruel to the maggot, and required that they use a maggot that had died from natural causes.
<petar> Jiangyi: thanks! that aligns with the "you're installing a custom os" message you get when pressing "lock+vol-up".. but why do people need CWM then? why not just using a CM10.zip for example and skip CWM?
<bbqbot> derp
<Jiangyi> petar: Odin only works with special .tar files, which is a pain to make afaik. Besides, flashing is 10x easier with CWM recovery. :-P
<Jiangyi> Also, a CWM flashable zip is much smaller since it doesn't include things that don't need to be flashed everytime.

<petar> Jiangyi: didn't know that, makes sense! So lets say I flash CWM: What will happen if I (1) boot into recovery (lock+volup) and (2) boot normaly?
<petar> (just CWM, nothing else)
LilaQ has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<bealtine> nothing normally
<Jiangyi> Your stock recovery will be replaced with CWM recovery. :-P
<chadouming> petar, (1) you will boot in recovery, (2) you will boot normaly
<bealtine> boot to recovery and you get a recovery menu
<bealtine> you're overthinking this
<petar> so the "ODIN-server-recovery" is gone for good?
<bealtine> what?
<petar> bealtine: yea, i know..
<bealtine> how much of this shit are you making up?
<petar> sorry.. ODIN-server-recovery is just a fabrication
<bealtine> wtf is ODIN-recovery ?
<bbqbot> derp
<petar> a recovery image that runs a server talking some protocol over the usb port to some odin client
<petar> thats how i imagine the stock recovery works
<bealtine> sigh ODIN is a program
<petar> all right, but they probably talk some protocol..
<bealtine> you use it to flash stuff
<bealtine> sure it does but why do you care?
<bealtine> its called download mode
<petar> well.. no offense but why do you want to know what a file system is?
<petar> or a subnet mask

<Michael_> basically, I feel, (now, opinions differ, obviously), that it is easier to input text with a skype like keyboard.
<Jiangyi> Pretty sure you can get something similar in the market.
<Jiangyi> Swiftkey I believe.
<Anthony1s> nah. swiftkey isn't like swype
<Michael_> What I wanted to know ... keep in mind,, just getting into android innerworkings..... slowly.... is that I would like to bring over the samsung keyboard from stock rom if possible
<chadouming> i missed what ?
<Michael_> nothin' boss,, just busy working
<Jiangyi> You really don't want to try porting Touchwiz stuff to AOSP.
<Jiangyi> It's a PITA. :-P
<Thracky> BUT TOUCHWIZ IS SO AWSUM!#!$!@#
<Jiangyi> A lot of the times just not possible.
<frankdrey> Michael_, Touchpal
<frankdrey> or wait till 4.2
<chadouming> Thracky, if you are not kidding, you are fired

<chadouming> probably has 4.2 keyboard
<chadouming> with swipe to write
<Jiangyi> z0mg 4.2 gapps?
<Jiangyi> :O
<Michael_> i've asked this question in XDA and the world responded (like 2 people)... and basically told me that I'd have to bring over the framwork etc.
<chadouming> let me get you link

<chadouming> true
<chadouming> bring what OEM does to aosp is a pain in the ass

<Jiangyi> Holy crap 158MB?!?!?!1
<Jiangyi> 154*
<chadouming> eh
<Thracky> so at hackfest I had to reverse engineer an android RAT during the CTF. it was fun :D
<Michael_> I remember seeing an ad for the Tab 2 - 10.1... where they were showing I guess the JB with that swype like keyboard
<Michael_> Ok,
<Michael_> Ok,
<Michael_> Now, I am on the latest nightly
<Harkonnen> Michael_: you can't get the Swype beta for your device?
<Michael_> I just installed like 2 mins ago.
<Michael_> so, is there a newer update?
<Michael_> Harkonnen, I could get it.... I suppose
<Michael_> doesn't that require registration etc.. last time I tried, I wasn't too successful..... don't know what I did wrong
<Michael_> I suppose I could give that a try again
<samosa> Touchwiz is much lighter than sense, IMO. (Atleast the latest iterations of it)
<Harkonnen> is what I did when moving to CM. The new 4.2 keyboard does not work too well, at least in spanish
<Harkonnen> Michael_: it requires a registration, yes, but if you have a trash e-mail address that's all it takes
<samosa> Of them*
<Michael_> But, what I wanted to find out is where can I get the 4.2?
<frankdrey> lol
<Michael_> I am on 4.1.2
<Michael_> I
<frankdrey> my toshiba tg01 is struggling to show a gui
<Harkonnen> the 4.2 android keyboard?
<Michael_> Harkonnen, I will try again
<Michael_> I love that in the top message " If you dont like your device, sell it"..... I want the next version of tab 2 10.1 (before it's out).....
<Jiangyi> Get Nexus 10 lol
<frankdrey> you have tab 2 10.1 ? :D
<Harkonnen> I am so getting a Nexus 10
<frankdrey> P5113! :D
<frankdrey> BROTHER :D
<chadouming> Michael_, doesnt say get the device you want, say if you dont like your device, sell it :P
<Michael_> chad, how did you just do that? like beep and change your name textcolor to red?
<bbqbot> derp
<samosa> Is it just me or does swype seem abit more slower / laggier on n10 than n4 (from videos showing them in action..)
<frankdrey> Michael_, that happens because he said your name
<Jiangyi> Michael_: When you write someone's name in a message, that happens.
<Harkonnen> Michael_: beep beep
<samosa> I mean the new swype type functionality in the 4.2 keyboard.
