DocScrutinizer05: I'm not sure about the speeds of this serial interface, would the usb interface throttle the connection?
<DocScrutinizer05>
USB genuinely supports multiple virtual data channels
<DocScrutinizer05>
no, USB is fast enough
<Arch-TK>
Good.
<DocScrutinizer05>
UART isn't
<Arch-TK>
I see, so in a pinch, it would be best to use the USB interface for internet connection and the UART for calls / sms (should be fast enough right?)
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes
<Arch-TK>
What happens when for example a call is incoming as I am currently already engaged in a call? How do modern smartphones handle this scenario (I seem to remember they are able to tell you someone else is calling you while you are in a call, but they could just do what a landline would, i.e. reject/busy)? Multiple serial interfaces again?
<DocScrutinizer05>
though USB has enough reserve to handle both data and management
<Arch-TK>
Cool.

(2nd call) depends on carrier policy and modem config
<Arch-TK>
On an unrelated note, I imagine the new expected date is 2Q2016 and no longer 1Q2016
<Arch-TK>
Or is the project still (somehow) on track for 1Q
<DocScrutinizer05>
yes
<DocScrutinizer05>
no
<Arch-TK>
Ok. (Sorry for asking two questions which are opposites, I've been told off for this on IRC before :P)

DocScrutinizer05: is there any resource (or can you tell me) regarding how the n900 implemented that fancy alarm clock where even the turned-off phone would turn on to sound the alarm clock?
<Arch-TK>
DocScrutinizer05: and will this be possible to do in the neo900?
<DocScrutinizer05>
it uses RTC and of course it will work exactly same way on Neo900

Nikolaus has no timeslot for us, for next 9 months. :-/
<edwin>
how much time would've been required? if he's working on a 9 month long project I maybe a few weeks of delay won't matter

won't fly. We need a new hw house
<Arch-TK>
DocScrutinizer05: This is for the board layout?
<xman>
Oops, what did I miss "new hw house"?
<DocScrutinizer05>
I know how layout works, but I'm not an expert. We can't do this on a "whenever I got a few hours free time" basis, nor on a "let's start to practice this, we know how to do it in theory"
<DocScrutinizer05>
Arch-TK: yep
<Arch-TK>
DocScrutinizer05: Board layout seems to be one of those things where everyone can do it but only a few can do it well.
<DocScrutinizer05>
xman: Golden delicious aka Nikolaus has no timeslot for us for the next 6-9 months
<DocScrutinizer05>
Arch-TK: yes, exactly
<xman>
Oh no, that sucks. It was great that they seems to be a good fit.
<DocScrutinizer05>
I can review layouts and spot problems. however I am not a professional layouter
<DocScrutinizer05>
I possibly can do proto_v2 layout, but that doesn't help when I fail on final layout, or it takes lots of time and board spins
<Arch-TK>
Obvious solution: Make a kickstarter for a potato salad and use the excess money to pay a professional layouter...
<Arch-TK>
Right... I'll see myself out...
<DocScrutinizer05>
I'd hope we have enough funds to pay a professional layouter
<Arch-TK>
What about this "investor" any more news?
<DocScrutinizer05>
Nikolaus isn't for free either, if he finds time to work for the project
<DocScrutinizer05>
so finding a new hw house to get the layout done might be even more economic in the end
<xman>
How hard is it to find a hardware shop for these things?
<DocScrutinizer05>
the problem is mainly to find one and transport all the discussed but never documented knowledge
<DocScrutinizer05>
xman: I guess we'll find out rather soon ;-)
<xman>
Heh, yeah … fingers double cross.
<DocScrutinizer05>
thanks
<DocScrutinizer05>
isn't it a poor joke how next problem arises as soon as one gets solved? I wonder how long a single person can cope to try and handle this
<Arch-TK>
life.
<xman>
Yeah, I hear you and appreciate you and the others taking on this challenge.
<xman>
Which is why I hope to help if I can with the PR/Design stuff. Got 2 more project that need to finish first and of course make a living too.
