<ssvb> wens: rtc does not work on my primo81 either
<ssvb> "[ 0.459133] sun6i-rtc 1f00000.rtc: hctosys: unable to read the hardware clock" (tried to test it with my old 4.1 kernel)
gzamboni has joined #linux-sunxi
<wens> ssvb: ok...
<wens> funny it works on my a31s devboard :(
<ssvb> yes, I would have expected this stuff first implemented and debugged on devboards, and then just work fine on sun6i hardware
<ssvb> wens: what kind of voltage regulator is responsible for rtc?
<wens> ssvb: PMIC has a 3.0V RTC LDO (always on), which then goes through another LDO that's in the SoC
<ssvb> we can always look into the sdk kernel sources for some hints
<ssvb> and also maybe try to poke some hardware registers via devmem2

<wens> mripard: oh you're back
<wens> ssvb: writing stuff to the registers doesn't do anything

<libv> hrm.
<libv> it's been a while since allwinner made some big statements or f-ed up open source stuff
<libv> no big marketing events in summer?
<wigyori> they're busy rewriting their bullshit.sh for the fall
<libv> wigyori: surely that would not be implemented in shell
<libv> probably more like visual basic or office macros or something

<libv> no, he created an excel table so that he now just has to feed in the name of the product and he then gets the names of the questionable molecules and their ppm or something

<libv> and he was proud of it

<MaDMaLKaV> HI people. I haven't touched anything allwinner related in soem years, and it was always tablets back then. I got a pcduino3 nano lite and I have some doubts I want to clarify before starting to working with it. Frist one is, this board doesn't have nand memory, so it doesn't have its own uboot, I have to provide a valid one on the sdcard , right?
<NiteHawk> MaDMaLKaV: that will probably be the standard route you'd want/have to take yes. the A20 will load the SPL and U-Boot from special, predetermined locations on the sdcard - see http://linux-sunxi.org/Bootable_SD_card#Bootloader
<NiteHawk> an alternative would be FEL boot via USB: http://linux-sunxi.org/FEL/USBBoot
adj_ has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<NiteHawk> but the latter ist mostly useful for 'tinkering' with the board, e.g. to try out new versions of bootloader and/or kernel - since it requires a host connection it's not suitable for standalone use of your board
<MaDMaLKaV> ok, thanks
<NiteHawk> we don't seem to have the "lite" in our wiki - i take that it's essentially a nano without NAND? (http://linux-sunxi.org/LinkSprite_pcDuino3_Nano)
<MaDMaLKaV> without nand and ir receiver , yeah
<wens> it's probably just a variant? like no nand/wifi
<MaDMaLKaV> so, this board doesn't have a default u-boot. How can I see what devices it looks for a valid uboot , or is that fixed for all A20 devices?
<MaDMaLKaV> so if I want to boot from USB I can only do it from FEL?
<NiteHawk> U-Boot usually needs to be configured with a device-specific configuration. that's what "make Linksprite_pcDuino3_Nano_defconfig" does.
<MaDMaLKaV> yeah, but what I don't undestand is how the device look for valid uboots, if it only look on sdcard, or if it also looks on USB and SATA, and in what order
<NiteHawk> define "boot from USB". if you're saying you want to load boot files from USB devices: no - that's standard u-boot behaviour. "FEL" booting refers to boot *via* USB - i.e. transferring u-boot (any possibly other required files) from a host (PC) over USB cable
<NiteHawk> the A20 has a predetermined boot sequence ("places to look for u-boot") baked into http://linux-sunxi.org/BROM
<NiteHawk> to use USB or SATA devices connected ('locally') to your nano, you'll have to load u-boot first - and that usually means from sdcard
<MaDMaLKaV> oh, cool , that is what I was looking for. SDCard it is , then. Now I have to figure if I can use the standard Nano procedure with this board or if I have to do something to specify this system doesn't have NAND . Thanks for the help
<NiteHawk> you're welcome

<Dodger78> hi , does kernel 4.2 support HMP or IKS on A80 ? and is USB3 supported on A80 ?
<wens> SMP/HMP => i've posted patches
pirea has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<wens> USB3 OTG has a binary glue driver
<wens> must ask allwinner for docs
<Dodger78> hi @wens ... i applied your patches . it builds a cluster of 4 A7 and 4 A15 or not ?
philectro has joined #linux-sunxi
<Dodger78> ah sorry its IKS right , one A7 with 1 A15 ?
leviathanch has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<Dodger78> what do i need to do , to make those CPUs switch to the A15 brother ? cpufreqd ? currently only the A7s are running and cpufreqd doesnt want to start
JohnDoe_71Rus has joined #linux-sunxi
<wens> Dodger78: it's 4x A7, 4x A8, not paired or anything
<wens> there's no cpufreq support on a80
<wens> ssvb: i had my a31s dev board running in secure mode, might explain why rtc works
<MaDMaLKaV> quick question, do you guys know if armbian defaults to DHCP and SSH available on first boot?
leviathanch has joined #linux-sunxi
<ssvb> wens: that's a good point, but this should be easy to verify, right?
<ssvb> wens: just disable psci in u-boot
<wens> ssvb: yeah, but i think i screwed up my u-boot, so i'll do some more tests tomorrow
<ssvb> wens: you are right, just added "setenv bootm_boot_mode sec" to boot.scr on primo81 and now rtc seems to work
<ssvb> wens: at least "hwclock -r" now prints the time instead of failing
<wens> ssvb: great
<wens> now we just have to figure out how to tweak it :/

<ssvb> wens: and what about a20, is it supposed to have the same rtc problem?
<ssvb> ijc: ^ do you have any ideas?
<maz_> ssvb: my a20 running 4.2 in non-secure mode is perfectly fine with its RTC.
<maz_> ssvb: do you have a TZC on this system?
<jemk> ssvb: 1.7.5 TZPC in the A31s user manual
<jemk> i have the same problem on h3, there even the clocks aren't accessible in secure mode
<maz_> jemk: you mean non-secure mode, right?
<jemk> yes
<wens> jemk: which clocks?
<wens> ssvb: no problem on a20
<jemk> wens: the whole ccu
<maz_> ssvb: as for the A31, it looks like TZPC0[1] needs to be poked from secure mode.
<ssvb> maz_: so somebody needs to submit a tiny for u-boot?
<ssvb> *tiny patch
<wens> jemk: yikes
<maz_> ssvb: and since you have both the HW and the information, you're on! ;-)
<ssvb> maz_: or wens ;-)
<wens> TZPC0[1] huh?
<maz_> wens: TZPCDECPORT0[1], sorry.
<maz_> wens: that's just by glancing at the A31 TRM.
<wens> really don't get all the secure stuff, there's a secure memory controller and a secure memory touch arbiter
bonbons has joined #linux-sunxi
<jemk> I wonder if they might be only enabled on non-development boards, because on my orange pi plus changing tzpc bits doesn't seem to have any effect
<maz_> wens: shouldn't be too hard to configure, really. This is probably a bog standard TZC-400, for which the documentation is public.
<maz_> or maybe an ancient CP147, which would be hilarious.
<maz_> BP147.

<TheLinuxBug> Sweet finally got my BananaPi NAS project done: http://phoenix.phix-it.com/nas built a 3x2TB raid NAS with BananaPi, SATA Port multiplier, old case with atx power supply. Got the whole thing powered off the ATX power supply (bananapi included) and get a decent 22-25M/sec throughput over BPi's gigabit nic.

<MaDMaLKaV> you using openmediavault, right?
<TheLinuxBug> yeah
<TheLinuxBug> I used that image, but honestly you can do it just as easy with about any dist as long as you are comforable with recompiling the kernel, it is the only thing you really need that is special. An it is important to note that once you enable the port multiplier in the kernel you can't just hook a regular drive up to the SATA port, it won't work. You would actually have to revert kernels to go back to using the single port only.
