Oh apparently the v2 microarch made the design smaller so it only takes around 72k LEs in a Cyclone 4 now
<Lofty>
Then it'll fit on an 85k ECP

I shall have to see, I need to copy stuff to backup drive in my FPGA VM and upgrade to newer kubuntu then try sv2v on it
<omnitechnomancer>
slightly tempted to get a DE10-nano anyway since they are only just over 200 in $local_currency
<omnitechnomancer>
and have interesting things like hard ARM blocks for various fiddling
<omnitechnomancer>
Also I do not have any ECP5 boards yet

Has anyone here ever used a parallella especially for using the zynq for FPGA tasks rather than to interface to the epiphany accelerator?
<tnt>
I have .... a long time ago.

tnt: any advice on doing so? I have a pair with z7020s on them so reasonable amount of resources
<etrig>
good reminder that I have a myriadrf daughtercard I assembled for parallella that I should really get working
<etrig>
omnitechnomancer: what sorts of things do you want to do with it?
mumptai has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

I mostly want to know what state to leave the IO pins in to avoid damaging the accelerator but otherwise just use it as an FPGA board

omnitechnomancer: the zynq boots without a bitstream first, so leaving them untouched should be fine?
<implr>
because it must not explode until it is bootloaded (or if the bootloader is broken)
<etrig>
seem to remember the epiphany-iii getting really hot if it's either not initialized nor held in reset
