<azonenberg> whitequark: the further USB3 descends into insanity, the happier i am i chose ethernet as my preferred interconnect

<daveshah> Using USB 3.0 cabling? /s
<sorear> i've been wondering for a while whether a fake xhci device that pretends to expose a single HID endpoint would be more or less cursed than an actual USB connection

<whitequark> shapr: i'm not entirely sure
<whitequark> jgoldmann: i do, but not the actual high-speed wire protocol
<jgoldmann> I'm mainly talking about the actual controller. Started this 'journey' when I found the TBT's flash - dumped it & only later found out its wired to the controller.
<jgoldmann> All attempts so far to start RE of the fw haven't got me too far - can't even find the actual code in the blob.
lutsabound has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<jgoldmann> The updater & other intel utilities gave some insight into the fw's structure - but it stills quite puzzling..
<azonenberg> gruetzkopf: rs232 mouse
<azonenberg> using an fpga that pretends to be a pcie rs232 adapter
<azonenberg> gruetzkopf: in all seriousness, my big problem with pcie is the lack of multimaster / switching / more-than-immediate-local-area capability

<tnt> Finally have my vbcc backend producing something that should (maybe) work: https://pastebin.com/XPxL41XZ generated code quality isn't great, but it's a start I guess.
<cr1901_modern> you're making a new Virtual Boy C Compiler :D? Cool! (I know I know, wrong "vb")
<emeb> venal ballistics
<cr1901_modern> That Aussie beer that nobody likes
<tnt> cr1901_modern: heh, no, I think the vb is just the initials of the original author "Dr. Volker Barthelmann" :p
<cr1901_modern> Yes I've dabbled into that compiler in like 2012. It's fairly complete C89 support. Last I checked the preprocessor didn't support "concatenating multiple string literals into one" :(.
<tnt> const char x[] = "dfsdfs" "fdsfds"; ? seems to work fine.
<cr1901_modern> Oh they must've fixed that since 2012, good :D!
<cr1901_modern> (I was surprised that it didn't work; seems like a weird thing to not support when you've implemented the rest of the damn compiler already lol)
<tnt> Hehe :)
