<chrisj_> if I have a sketch (of many carefully arranged mounting holes) in a plane on the side of a block, and I want to delete and redraw the block, is there a way to not destroy the sketch-in-plane with the mounting holes?
<chrisj_> I am asking for a way to detach the sketch-in-plane from the block that it is presently attached to, and maybe attach it to the XY plane for example for safe keeping, then re-attach it to something else later.
<chrisj_> If I started again, I would put a template of the hole locations in a separate file and link/assemble it onto where the flange attaches, (though I have not yet had much luck link/assembling .slvs files containing only a 2-d sketch-in-plane instead of a 3-d object).
<chrisj_> The more general statement of my problem is that when I am defining two separate parts that can bolt together with flanges, I would like to define the hole spacings in only one place, just like programmers prefer to avoid sprinkling magic numbers throughout code, so that it when they need changing it is easier to not forget to change some of them.
<chrisj_> What's the best way to do that in Solvespace?
