<

hey, I'm having issues compiling solvespace on windows
<
jadew>
I have both VS 2015 and 2017 and I think cmake gets confused
<
jadew>
common problem?
<
jadew>
ok, I might have found a solution
<
jadew>
running cmake from the vs 2017 console
<
jadew>
and compiling it from the vs 2015 one
<
jadew>
any other way and it doesn't seem to work
<
whitequark>
what's the error?
<
jadew>
it fails early, saying that cl can't compile a simple program
<
jadew>
let me see if I still have a command prompt open that has it
<
jadew>
give me a sec, I'll get it to fail again
<
jadew>
oh, my trick failed at 55%, rc - not a recognized command
<
jadew>
anyway, let me get you that original issue
<
whitequark>
hm, interesting
<
whitequark>
how do you run cmake exactly?
<
whitequark>
from which shell?
<
jadew>
cmake .. -G "NMake Makefiles" -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
<
jadew>
from the build folder (I'm following the instructions in the readme file)
<
whitequark>
did you invoke vcvarsall.bat?
<
jadew>
cmd, but started with the vc vars
<
whitequark>
hmm, not sure then
<
whitequark>
it's not related to solvespace
<
whitequark>
using the GUI is an easy workaround
<
jadew>
was just hoping that someone else had to deal with this before :)
<
jadew>
the GUI doesn't work either
<
whitequark>
are you sure your environment is OK?
<
whitequark>
no idea whatsoever then
<
jadew>
I'm trying to isolate it now
<
jadew>
I'll let you know if I find out what's going on
<
jadew>
ok, so what worked was to target VS 2017 from the GUI
<
jadew>
previously, I tried to run the readme instructions from the 2017 console and it failed
<
jadew>
(with a different error)
<
jadew>
stack overflow on line 10 in solvespace.cpp: SolveSpaceUI SolveSpace::SS = {};
<
jadew>
I have to get to work now, but if I have time, I'll look into it later
<
jadew>
nice project btw, I just discovered it
