Hello. Anyway to make sandstorm work without domain name?
<TimMc>
Jurri: Heh, someone else was just asking that! In short: You can't, but you can get a free domain name.
<TimMc>
There's sandcats, and there's also xip.io.
<Jurri>
Thats really unfortunate... And you only find out you need domain on last step when nothing works...
<TimMc>
Is the sandcats option not acceptable?
<TimMc>
It's what I use currently, although I'll be moving to my own domain once I buy a wildcard cert and settle on a name.
<Jurri>
I don't wish to use domain, might aswell use google spreadshit if it has to be linked to some external service
<Jurri>
Thanks TimMc
<TimMc>
Jurri: You can use your own DNS if you are really set on that, but sandstorm definitely needs a domain name for its security model.
<Jurri>
If I understand that correctly, I would have to edit DNS on all devices that would want to access it?
<TimMc>
That's not what I was suggesting, no. If you registered a domain name and hosted the DNS for it yourself, that would certainly give you more control.
<TimMc>
Either way, it certainly gives you more control over your data than Google stuff. :-)

I have been trying to install Sandstorm for days now and I keep getting errors, mainly when I run the install it says my server never starting listening :(
<joshuafpt>
I have seen a few different fixes online but none seem to work, any ideas?

joshuafpt: Is it because something else is listening on that port?
<TimMc>
That would be a reason for the server to fail to start listening.
