Hi, I've just raised a feature request against the Gramps project to package for Sandstorm, can someone take a look and see if i missed anything? https://gramps-project.org/bugs/view.php?id=9991

Oh man, I used to really be into GRAMPS. I should get back into it. People are getting married, having kids, dying etc. and my GEDCOM file is out of date.

I've more or less abandoned IRC idler in favor of this -- not really enjoying wrangling with the IRC protocol as found by myself. I'm going to dogfood the ZNC package for a bit, but expect an announcement on the mailing list in the next few days.

<dwrensha>
isd: I suppose you need to be admin on the Sandstorm server to use it?
<isd>
dwrensha: yeah; needs ipNetwork
<dwrensha>
I guess it must make a powerbox request for an IpNetwork?
<dwrensha>
ah
<isd>
Looks pretty similar to IRC idler from the user standpoint. Just the protocol support is a lot better
<dwrensha>
I wonder how useful it would be to have an IRC driver app
<isd>
What do you mean by driver?
<dwrensha>
users could request an IRC capability from the driver grain, rather than an IpNetwork from an admin
<isd>
Ug, then I'd need to actually add the marshalling bits. The probably with encoding other network protocols in capnproto is that now you can't use any existing tools that support those protocols
<isd>
I *do* think it would be worthwhile to have other apps that can fulfill ipNetwork.
<isd>
I can think of a few setups where that would be useful
<dwrensha>
maybe it'd be useful just to have an IpNetwork dealer app
<isd>
But it would actually be useful I think to have an app that e.g. fulfills it but "firewalls" the app so it can only access specific hosts; an admin could share such a grain with users to given them limited network access.
