<ckocagil>
How do you avoid copyright issues when you use an app's logo in the app store?
<dwrensha>
ckocagil: ask permission?
<ckocagil>
I was hoping it'd fall under a fair use clause :-)
<paulproteus>
If it's an open source app and it's open source software, typically the logo permits distribution, just like the code of the app permits it.
<paulproteus>
So you'd make sure to provide appropriate credits in the "Notices" section of the sandstorm-pkgdef.capnp I believe.
<paulproteus>
But I'm just waking up so who knows if this is accurate, this is not legal advice, etc.

I am _super_ excited about resumable sessions because I am under the impression it'll result in me not getting the "no grain found for publicid asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf" on my grains when I suspend & re-open my laptop 10 minutes later.
<paulproteus>
ckocagil: Wow this is so good! re: "First, add an authorization key to git" and then "you can clone this empty repository" or "add as a remote to an existing repository on your computer"
<paulproteus>
That is effing glorious.
<paulproteus>
I'm curious what the meaning of the "Is repo private?" question is.
<ckocagil>
paulproteus: same as private repos on github
<paulproteus>
I guess it's, when I add others to this grain, can they see this repo?
<paulproteus>
Ya
<paulproteus>
It strikes me as a world within a world, but I guess that's life in a multi-repo git grain.
<ckocagil>
yeah, I'll make a single-repo version as well
<paulproteus>
OK this is completely great.
<ckocagil>
thanks!
<paulproteus>
My email address is c3d9c1ed-a3d1-4920-b788-aa26454436e5@localhost on my home page.
<paulproteus>
The Followers feature doesn't make buckets of sense; maybe that's OK.
<paulproteus>
It could make more sense depending on details, after all.
<paulproteus>
Does Gogs support web hooks, I'm curious to know?
<ckocagil>
IIRC it does
<paulproteus>
It'd be _so_ cool to (one day!??) have a Gogs that I can push to that then pushes to my GitHub.
<paulproteus>
But that's not a show-stopper or anything.
<paulproteus>
Also at some point you'll want/need some app market graphics. @neynah on github can help you with that if you like.
<ckocagil>
anything I'll need other than the Gogs icon?
<paulproteus>
In other news if you can ask Gogs.io to support HTTPS via e.g. CloudFlare that'd be nice! https://gogs.io/docs is an error page.
<paulproteus>
Again not a show-stopper by any means.
<paulproteus>
re: icons: We seem to like having curved corners for the appGrid icon but square corners for the appMarket icon.
<paulproteus>
So it's not like we can meaningfully hold you to these things (but expect a @neynah pull request presumably if you don't curve some borders).
<paulproteus>
I think she plans to document that soonish.
<paulproteus>
At some point the "WebHooks" Gogs section should be replaced with something powerbox-y but there is no powerbox yet.
<paulproteus>
There's this super cool Slack integration thing that I'm looking at in the (Sandstorm) Gogs UI but I presume it'll be blocked due to no outbound HTTP requests from the grain.
<paulproteus>
So presumably you could say "WebHooks are disabled until Sandstorm supports inter-app communication better."
<paulproteus>
On the WebHooks page.
<paulproteus>
And remove the "Add Webhook" button
<paulproteus>
Related to this string for your grepping pleasure: "Webhooks are much like basic HTTP POST event triggers. Whenever something occurs in Gogs"
<paulproteus>
The fact that the repo has a name that is chosen by me (the creator of the grain) is *way* nicer (IMHO) than the fixed name of the GitWeb + GitLab things.
<paulproteus>
So massive bravo to you on that. I hope you retain that even on the single-grain one.
<paulproteus>
I mean single-grain single-repo one.
<paulproteus>
Ooh, it includes issues, very nice.
<paulproteus>
That gopher trapped inside a G is a nice logo IMHO.
<paulproteus>
"My mirrors (0)"
<paulproteus>
ooh
<paulproteus>
I wonder how that's supposed to work.
<paulproteus>
</ramble>
<paulproteus>
I think the only request I have is that the email address on the front page of my user account be removed or made into my actual email address.
<paulproteus>
Probably removed since I can't think of a way for the app to know my actual email address.
<paulproteus>
It would be hypothetically _super_ cool if making a repo "Public" would result in gogs publishing it at a static URL endpoint.
<paulproteus>
That's another pie-in-the-sky feature request.
<paulproteus>
In which case I'd ask for the repo to be "Private" by default.
<paulproteus>
But then I could have anonymous cloning which would be sweet.
<paulproteus>
That would also be pie-in-the-sky, not something that's required for app market quality.

Hi all, I'm wondering what is the best way to update sandstorm? Rerun the install script?
<rsynnest>
hello?
<paulproteus>
Hi rsynnest
<paulproteus>
sudo sandstorm update
<paulproteus>
But also it'll auto-update if you allowed it to.
<paulproteus>
See /opt/sandstorm/sandstorm.conf and see if UPDATE_CHANNEL=dev is present in the file.
<paulproteus>
BTW hi! I'm in San Francisco; I see you have a 128.* IP address, which usually means a university somewhere. That's great.
<paulproteus>
I'm going away to watch a video but feel free to email me, community@sandstorm.io

Thanks much! It looks like it was already up to date but I was trying to get the sandcats functionality which it didn't pull automatically. i just reran the install script and it cleverly knew about existing install and walked me through a re-install asking if I'd like to keep X and Y.

and yes I'm at UC Davis, born in Palo Alto. Actually one of the advisers for Sandstorm (Andy Lutomirski) used to live in the house I grew up in
