<ifreund>
and the amp/speakers are pretty great, got them from ebay kleinanzeigen just like the monitors and monitor stand
waleee-cl has joined #river
<novakane[m]>
oh that's like a DIY keyboard? that's cool
<novakane[m]>
Is that to record your bass(? iirc)? music production is one of the thing for what I still have a window pc
<ifreund>
the bigger thing there is the amp for the speakers and my record player (pre-amp on the left speaker), the smaller one is an audio interface for the bass and/or mic
<novakane[m]>
yeah you don't need a lot of software then, I do have a lot of hardware for music, but even more software that don't really run on linux
<msiedlaczek[m]>
hi, I want to try out river on manjaro, I've installed the AUR package, but my gdm doesn't see it. can I set it up to show in gdm?
<ifreund>
msiedlaczek[m]: you probably need to write a .desktop file for it, currently the only officially supported way to start river is to run it from a tty
<msiedlaczek[m]>
do I just run `river` to start from tty?
<yyp>
Yep
<msiedlaczek[m]>
alright, thanks!
<yyp>
One note, if this won't work because of a dbus errors, you need to do: "dbus-launch river" instead (at least on Arch)
<leon-p>
maybe I should finally submit the example desktop file. The GDM debacle put me off it and then I kinda forgot about it.
<msiedlaczek[m]>
<yyp "One note, if this won't work bec"> Ok, thanks

ifreund: If there eventually is a keybinding protocol, I wonder if we can get rid of the layout value events and just let the layout client register keybinds.
