<c0d3z3r0> does anyone know why the radxa rock is sold out worldwide?
acumiskey has joined #radxa
acumiskey has quit [Client Quit]
derrick13 has joined #radxa
<zombu2> lets hope they stopped selling em
<derrick13> stopped selling what?
<c0d3z3r0> derrick13: the radxa rock
<kivutar> why?
<zombu2> lets see .... sw is crap sw is crap oh and have i mentioned the sw is crap
<zombu2> it might have also something to do with the sw beeing crap
<c0d3z3r0> o.O why is linux crap?
<zombu2> linux is not crap
<zombu2> its the radxa version of it
<zombu2> nothing works right everything is half assed
<c0d3z3r0> you don't have to use radxa software...
<zombu2> thats not the point
<zombu2> point is they should have a image that actually has their hardware woirking
<c0d3z3r0> yep that's right but it doesn't mean that the board itself is bad. linux kernel 3.17 will have many improvements to better support the board
<zombu2> i never said the board was crap i said the software is crap
<kivutar> I agree that the software support for this board is crap
<kivutar> I own many boards, radxa is the only one I almost never touch, because of that reason
<zombu2> ^^^
<zombu2> hardware accel is the biggest point
<zombu2> gpoi bluetooth etc
<c0d3z3r0> what's the problem with hw acc?
<zombu2> video is choppy browser is laggy
<zombu2> scrolling is laggy
<zombu2> moving windows takes ages
<c0d3z3r0> oh ok.. thats bad.. but shouldn't be a problem for me since i don't need the graphics… I want to use it as web-/homeserver
<zombu2> ah yeah
<zombu2> oh and the nand problems with corrupted nand etc
<zombu2> sad thing is cubietruck has the same issues
<c0d3z3r0> raspberry pi has the same problem with sd cards
<zombu2> so far i got a pi running 24/7 since month as a sprinkler no corruption yet
<zombu2> pi corrupts the sd card if voltage drops
<zombu2> so i got a psu on it 5-48V input and 5.2v output at 10A
<c0d3z3r0> yeah me too no problems since months but the forum is full of complaints about sd corruption
<zombu2> pi needs 5.2v to make up for the voltage drop
<zombu2> and lots of A from the psu
<zombu2> then no issues
<c0d3z3r0> I have a 5.0V 2A psu. even with 100% cpu usage and usb soundcard attached there aren't any problems
<zombu2> i also rerouted power to not go through the usb/ethernet first
<zombu2> my pi is clocked at 1200/666/580
<c0d3z3r0> i have 1000/250/500
<zombu2> ram is a lil low o.0
<c0d3z3r0> gpu 250, ram 500
<zombu2> ah lol
<zombu2> ok
<c0d3z3r0> pwm off, ov 6
<zombu2> i m not overvolted at all
<mrueg> zombu2: well it is a development board
<mrueg> can't blame radxa for mali
<zombu2> i can blame em for knowingly choosing a chip manufacturer that will not give them the drivers
<zombu2> there s gazillions of hreads about ppl bitching that they don t hand out the drivers unless you buy enough of their chips
<mrueg> well rockchip sucks, yes.
<c0d3z3r0> from what i heard yesterday rockchip is now working together with the linux kernel developers
<zombu2> if i buy a soc from a company i expect drivers with it
<mrueg> c0d3z3r0: source?
<zombu2> no drivers no sale easy as that
<zombu2> source too
<zombu2> you need the source for it when you get the chip
<zombu2> fluid graphix is that too much to ask
<c0d3z3r0> 7th comment
<zombu2> ja reverse engineered
<c0d3z3r0> "Nicht nur Rockchip selber spielt jetzt mit, sondern auch ein paar mehr "Community"-Entwickler." -> Not only rockchip himself is working with us together now, but also a few more community people.
<zombu2> oss driver does not work right
<mrueg> ah
<mrueg> well i'm german :)
<mrueg> c0d3z3r0: thanks
<zombu2> lots of video glitches you move the windows screen gets messed up and still slow scrolling and video stutter
<zombu2> yeah i can read that lol
<mrueg> zombu2: have you tried lima?
<zombu2> no
<zombu2> link?
<zombu2> the radxa would be awesome if the sw would work
<mrueg> zombu2: http://limadriver.org/
<zombu2> ima read that when i get back from tiger direct
<zombu2> i wanna grab a samsung 12.2 tab
<zombu2> no tax weekend lol
<c0d3z3r0> zombu2: is there any other quad core arm board you can recommend?
<zombu2> i wish
* mrueg keeps waiting for arm64
<zombu2> ^^^
<c0d3z3r0> hm ok let's look what will be be made work in the next weeks...
<zombu2> yup
<zombu2> well i m off to tiger
<c0d3z3r0> the work of mmind looks very promising to me
<mrueg> c0d3z3r0: https://github.com/mmind/linux-rockchip/tree/topgit/devel have you tried to run this kernel?
<c0d3z3r0> mrueg: i don't have a radxa, yet. it's sold out worldwide :/
<mrueg> ah
<c0d3z3r0> wow… that one has two quad core cpus.. http://hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php?g_code=G140471342523
<zombu2> hrhr got the spen tab pro for 599 no tax
