Certainly not the first time, that's for sure.
<nordeast_yah>
Any of y'all using radxa as "desktop" machine under Android?
<nordeast_yah>
I've been trying but some reason, the wifi connection is just horribly slow to the point of unusable. All other wifis in the house are just fine.
<nordeast_yah>
Id very much just like to VESA mount it to the back of a monitor and let the family use it kiosk-style.
<nordeast_yah>
I figure it has to be something about the android build in the 1080 jellybean dualboot because the linux side of the boot, the wifi is fine.
<mhoney>
Still waiting for my Radxa to arrive ;)
<nordeast_yah>
When it does, be very careful about unpacking and assembling the case. It's quite soft plastic and breaks easily.
<nordeast_yah>
Ive also heard from a couple users that board components are prone to breaking off with normal use stresses.
<mhoney>
thanks for the heads up
<nordeast_yah>
Thankfully my board has held up. My list of gripes is almost all OS-based, I'm sure. The android side wifi is slow, and on the linux side it won't detect the bluetooth adapter. =P
<nordeast_yah>
I shaved off my neckbeard back in the 90s, so I'm not looking to compile my own linux kernel and distro.
<mhoney>
ive heard bluetooth also has issues on the cubietruck under linux
<nordeast_yah>
is that another SOC board?
<nordeast_yah>
I didn't have any problems on the RaspPi with a USB BT adapter, but since Debian isn't hardware-optimized at all the desktop is unusably slow.
npcomp has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
npcomp has joined #radxa

<zombu2>

Bludot has quit [Quit: Connection closed for inactivity]
<zombu2>
this channel is really really quiet
<Dsphost>
hahahahah
<Dsphost>
we should do something for it..
<Dsphost>
zombu2.. have you booting linux from a sdcard within the radxa?
<Dsphost>
do you have experience on it?
<zombu2>
i got it booting from nand
<zombu2>
for now
<zombu2>
just got it yesterday
<zombu2>
sd and nand is too slow so next step is booting it from external hdd or flash
<zombu2>
after that i need to get the mali driver working right
<zombu2>
then we can have a look at BT
<zombu2>
also network manager is all messed up
<zombu2>
network manager asking for privileges as user is a bad idea and makes auth not work right
<Dsphost>
mmm,,. I got my radxa finally, so my first goal is booting linux from a sdcard... but i don't know if the procedure in the website is correct... what do you think?
