<Dsphost> hi everyone..
<Bludot> hello?
<Bludot> is this place still alive?
<Dsphost> I don't know... I'm new here..
sclukey has joined #radxa
<Dsphost> Has somebody done the process for install linux on radxa board?
<Bludot> i tried and failed
<sclukey> I haven't yet, I'm waiting for a 3.4+ kernel
<Dsphost> mmmm ok, I'm a newbie in this kind of development board... and I bought this board for learning embedded systems. I'll try to do something first with android and then i'll try with lubuntu..
<kmathis> dsphost, i have some notes on getting the base debian system installed on the radxa as the ONLY operating system
<Dsphost> oohh excellent kmathis, how can i have those notes? do you have web links? other references?is it possible to send it to my email?
<Bludot> I would love those too
<kmathis> i'll put it into a coherent blog post at some point
<kmathis> but i'll throw you guys a copy to get you started
<Dsphost> ohh thanks kmathis..
<kmathis> pm me your e-mail

<kmathis> sent
<Bludot> thanks :P
<kmathis> np
<Bludot> also.. can i resize the linux root partition via the parameter file?
<Bludot> im not sure how to do it
<Dsphost> thanks to much kmathis..
<kmathis> i think you need to use resize2fs Bludot
<Bludot> im talking about the NAND
<Bludot> i should also mention... I dont have a radxa. I have a rk3188 based android tablet/netbook
<kmathis> as long as you only have the two partitions (boot and rootfs) then resize2fs will expand the rootfs to take up the whole space on the nand
<Bludot> which is almost the same thing
<Bludot> hm oh ok...
<Bludot> but how do i access the nand like that?
<kmathis> are you installing linux to the nand or using something external like an sd card?
<Bludot> well.. i would like to use an external sd
<Bludot> i figured out how to boot from an sd that does absolutely nothing except boot into bootloader mode
<kmathis> ah, i haven't done that yet, but the process should be very similar
<Bludot> but then where would I put the rootfs image?
<Bludot> also... i use ubuntu and not windows... and the alternative explains well but doesnt tell me where to put the rootfs image
<kmathis> brb
<Bludot> k
<Dsphost> for newbies and for safety... do you think its better to boot from sdcard instead of modifiying the nand?
<Bludot> yup
<Bludot> always
<Dsphost> ok, i will try it... thanks
<Bludot> either that or a virtual machine :P
<Bludot> but i dont think we can emulate the rockchipt
<Bludot> this seems like a long brb
<Bludot> loll
<Dsphost> What projects are you running right now with the rk8188 based board?
<Bludot> me?
<Bludot> trying to get linux on it
<Bludot> then we will see what else I do
<Dsphost> bludot... did you try this http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock/sd_lubuntu? and it didn´t work?
<Bludot> yeah didnt work
<Bludot> it would be great if i could get some logs when I try it though

<Bludot> what projects are you doing with your radxa
<Bludot> ?
<Dsphost> This kind of help...makes me crazy... http://androtab.info/radxa_rock/sdboot/
<Bludot> yeah
<Bludot> the kernel wasnt given either
sclukey has quit []
<kmathis> back lol
<Bludot> wb
<kmathis> i haven't read much on booting from the sd card but i'm guessing you just need to point the rootfs portion of the parameter file to the correct spot
<Bludot> well i havent figured out how to do that yet
<kmathis> i see
<Bludot> damn its raining :/
<Bludot> and my car isnt close :(
<kmathis> using the stuff i sent you, i was able to flash debian to the nand and it booted without too much trouble
<kmathis> i still need to compile the wireless drivers though
<Bludot> ah
<Bludot> i actually soft bricked my tablet. it wont boot without my special sd card :/
<Bludot> i cant go into mask mode cause the nand chip is in a way where i dont have access to the pins :./
<kmathis> there's no utility to flash it?
<Bludot> flash the nand?
<Bludot> i get a idb failed error
<kmathis> hm
<Bludot> yup
<Bludot> i can still flash the parameter but that doesnt do anything
<Bludot> I tried low format but that didnt do anything either
