<mth>
I heard about an air traffic control system written in Ada
<mth>
but indeed very niche

yeah, just those projects that need maximum reliability and ideally methods to verify correctness of code
<DocScrutinizer05>
though I think the latter probably is still impossible

wpwrak: what's that "attack" you've mentioned?
<kyak>
can't seem to find any information about this

kyak: that was a real gnat :) the insect, mosquito. they're supposed to be nocturnal, and let you in peace during the day. but this one was evidently exploring a new lifestyle.
<larsc>
they are evolving!
<wpwrak>
they are. they're getter damn good at hiding. a few years ago, i could just turn on the light and they'd just freeze in place. dark spots on a white wall. now they hide in crevices.
<wpwrak>
i've already given up on hunting them down individually, and just gas the entire bedroom. of course that means that i'll have to sit on the computer for a while, waiting for the air there to become breathable again ...
<larsc>
that's what you get for killing only those that are bad at hiding in the first place

well, tbh I've been biten by gnats at daytime several times already. And the by far worst gnat attack (literally a cloud to darken the sky) was in south of France next to a small runnel, during early dawn, while the night we slept relatively calm. Werner and me both same moment woke up and ran screaming, pulling our sleeping bags behind us
<DocScrutinizer05>
the bites are still visible on both sides of my neck

larsc: yeah. i hope they'll appreciate my new non-discriminatory approach :)
<wpwrak>
DocScrutinizer05: were you camping near a bioweapons research facility with lax containment practices ? :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
no idea :-)
<DocScrutinizer05>
the French, you know
<DocScrutinizer05>
was near Aix-en-Provence
<wpwrak>
maybe that's where they breed the Le Pens, and there was some cross-species contamination
<DocScrutinizer05>
or maybe Arles
<DocScrutinizer05>
Carmargue known to breed gnats
<DocScrutinizer05>
I guess they had a weekend trip to next town
<DocScrutinizer05>
for whatever reason we planned to visit Saintes Maries de la Mer, but we found no way to arrive there alive ;-P
<wpwrak>
on your next trip, you went to somalia, to relax from all the stress :)
