err .. until 2015

<DocScrutinizer05>
it arrived at 18:00 and I gave it 50min test then had a nap
<DocScrutinizer05>
and earned a terrible headache, which I won't blame to UPS or Rigol but rather to weather
<DocScrutinizer05>
btw it just was o'scope and accessories (bnc-4mm adapters, Rigol-softbag), the DMM and related accessories completely postponed to week5/2015
<DocScrutinizer05>
maybe some poor chinese dude has to manually erase all the Agilent signs and replace them by Keysight
<DocScrutinizer05>
;-P
<DocScrutinizer05>
>> U1173A Adapter Infrarot zu USB fürHandmultimeter U125x-Serie obsolete, ersetzt durch U1173B, abwärtskompatibel<< and the complete lack of any *1173* product on that shop website open up room for speculations
<DocScrutinizer05>
btw I actually started looking at desktop-DMM but they are waaaay more expensive, mostly thanks to starting at 5 digits
<DocScrutinizer05>
they are generally calibrated and that costs $$$
<DocScrutinizer05>
my operation mode in lab is based on a "nothing is calibrated, except my own logic which is 99.999999999% true" - so I really don't need expensive calibrated gear. I don't do certification stuff where I need to check operational limits
jekhor__ has quit [Ping timeout: 255 seconds]
<DocScrutinizer05>
worst case convenient "calibration" normals are available everywhere. 1V5 primary cell, 230V AC, etc
<DocScrutinizer05>
all my probing usually is a go/nogo type of data acquisition which often has 30%/70%/130% thresholds and for such even a 5% "accurate" DMM is absolutely fine
<DocScrutinizer05>
btw c't mag goes foolish: "Heft 2 (TWO!!!) 2015 erscheint ab 2014(!)-12-27 am Kiosk"
<DocScrutinizer05>
I wonder how long until I read issue 1/20XX in summer of 20$(( XX - 1 ))
<DocScrutinizer05>
some of them translations to english are a tad... unusual. using "printscreen" the scope shows a short remark "Disabled Some Operations!" ... OK. But after completing the save-to-USB process it shows a remark "Can Operate Now" which really puzzled me if this device is maybe from medical/surgery domain ;-)
<wpwrak>
IRC port is open,. interesting. didn't think they knew their customers *that* well :)
<DocScrutinizer05>
I wonder what EU is worth for when they can't even enforce astronomically high penalty tax on all products that do not support alternatives to redmond crap
<wpwrak>
(bench dmm) yeah, for me it's mainly to get more sensible current measurements and the convenience. i don't send my critters in for re-calibration.
<viric>
DocScrutinizer05: yes, that's why in Spain it's called Montero
<DocScrutinizer05>
hehe
<DocScrutinizer05>
only officially, my spanish friends told me. People still call it Pajero
<DocScrutinizer05>
now you see why Siemens pays signifacant fractions of a million for new product names. "Sony" been the result of iirc 12 months of worldwide studies and several millions spent on them. The name "Sonny" sounded weird in Korea or dunno where
<DocScrutinizer05>
that's why trademarks/names are high value assets for comapnies
<DocScrutinizer05>
though I guess Mitsubishi won't ask many $$ to sell "Pajero" X-P

<wpwrak>
DocScrutinizer05: so you "upgraded" it ?
<DocScrutinizer05>
pondering to do. But no upgrade without decent rollback strategy

what do you call a hypercube that is fully contained within another one with the same number of dimensions? sub-cube?

inner hypercube

you can tell things are going well when a document begins with "for simplicity, we assume a galois field of hypercubes in N-space, with N >= 4, for which we define ..."
<larsc>
I see you did you research ;)
<DocScrutinizer05>
dang, I checked wikipedia galois field
