cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

<mhroncok> hello. I am new with heptapod and I fail to see how to do a fork and push to it, so I can openna merge request
<mhroncok> https://doc.pypy.org/en/latest/mercurial_heptapod.html#merge-request-based-workflow-with-hg-evolve seem to assume I have push permissions to the main repo, but that doesn't work

<mhroncok> antocuni: oh, thanks!
<antocuni> you need to request access to the pypy group. Once you have it, you can push to branches in the main repo
<mhroncok> antocuni: thank you!
<antocuni> mhroncok: accepted!
<mhroncok> antocuni: thnaks
<antocuni> np, thanks for the upcoming contributions ;)
<mhroncok> antocuni: I was also asking for my friend thrnciar
<antocuni> yes, I accepted him as well
<mhroncok> antocuni: awesome. pushing... and it worked
<antocuni> cool
<mhroncok> antocuni: https://foss.heptapod.net/pypy/pypy/merge_requests/722 (mostly used this to test the workflow)

<mattip> ok, well that was annoying. A merge request started off as a change off py3.6, but belonged on default as well
<mattip> the contributor retargeted default, and I clicked the merge button. Whoops: I just merged py3.6 into default
<mattip> moral of the story: it is too soon to use that merge button on the web GUI
<mhroncok> mattip: ouch
<mattip> my fault, not the contributor's
<antocuni> mattip: maybe it's a sign of the universe which tells us to use py3.6 as the "default" branch 😂
<mattip> heh
<mhroncok> mattip: were you able to recover?

<ronan> cfbolz: it seems that every time you merge from py3.6 to py3.7, you add back files that were removed in 3.7
<ronan> see 0ffe3bb86668 and 30b8820371ef
<cfbolz> Ouch, how is that happening?
<cfbolz> Sorry :-(
<ronan> np, I guess there's something wrong with your hg config
<mattip> mhroncok: I think so, I merged back from the bad commit to default, ignoring the changed files
<cfbolz> Most likely the merge tool
