any plans to create a custom chassis and upgrade the chip to something more modern and breathe some life into this idea? i liked it from day one, but by the time the project asked for money for devices, i thought the spec was already out of date, and like many others, I thought that the project would produce the first run and then upgrade to a new chip and maybe a new chassis for the sequel. i'm disappointed that it hasn't even hit the first

batch, and now we're in 2019. I've been following since 2013

threebar: that been the plan. All plans however are subject to feasibility, which is closely related to available funds aka paying customers
<threebar>
Customers may pay if they have an idea of what's happening.
<Joerg-Neo900>
going right to STEP2 (new case, new SoC, plans had i.MX8M) been the path we tried to follow with a VC partner a year ago, but that got hybernated due to HR issues on partner's side
<Joerg-Neo900>
hibernated even
<threebar>
gotcha
<Joerg-Neo900>
so with no more funds, no prototype to show off and no VC, and with a design you correctly classified as somewhat obsolete meanwhile, the complete project is in hibernation
<Joerg-Neo900>
a pity
<threebar>
indeed a pity. i think sticking a prototype board in a semi-decent case and using that to shop for VCs will make them roll in by the dozen. are any prototype boards around? does anyone have anything like a WIP that can be shopped?
<Joerg-Neo900>
no, absolutely nothing worthwhile
<threebar>
Damn. That's the big problem then. If something existed, it'd be a cinch to shop it, even in pieces. Investors are used to seeing things that are works in progress, but they won't throw money at hopes and dreams
<Joerg-Neo900>
xmas one year ago I hoped for metacolin doing the final proto_v2 layout and assembly, so we could start a kickstarter with that. Then his father in law died and he vanished
<Joerg-Neo900>
this basically been the last breath of Neo900
<threebar>
What do we have to work with? I wonder if anything can be salvaged.

only finding another person to finish the board design in specifically http://kicad-pcb.org, if I remember correctly would be a start.
