<jugglinmike> I'm having some beginner-level problems installing nanoc through rbenv. Anyone have a second to help me troubleshoot?

<tantalum> Hi Everybody
<tantalum> I'm having a little issue: I have a bunch of content I wrote using Emacs on a linux machine and encoded in utf-8
<tantalum> I also have two other machines, a Mac and a Windows
<tantalum> and when I try to compile the site on the other machines I get an error from the YAML parser saying: "control character not allowed on line 1 column 1"
<tantalum> I know it's an encoding error, I was hoping someone might have a solution

<dkm> tantalum: on your Linux or Mac machine you may be able to use the 'tr' command to translate characters
<dkm> tantalum: it may also be useful to use 'od -c' to see what exactly the offending character is
<tantalum> dkm: Found the problem.. A stray decoded – that wasn't being converted correctly
<dkm> good to know!
