<wens>
iirc cpufreq cannot handle not having a regulator
<wens>
because it has to match the operating voltage with the OPP
<IgorPec>
sure
<wens>
even if it's a fixed regulator
<IgorPec>
why is absent :) ?
<wens>
because someone forgot to add it?
<IgorPec>
hmm, i think it was there ... let me check
<wens>
also there's no cpufreq on h5 yet
<wens>
I think that's the main reason :)
<wens>
there's no opp table for h5
<IgorPec>
it is in armbian
<IgorPec>
but that was not the case. i tested Orange One and PC+
msimpson has joined #linux-sunxi
<wens>
hmm, cpufreq for h3 was introduced in 4.18
<IgorPec>
we have it since 4.14 ... but I also tried 4.18
<IgorPec>
i am trying to bump 4.14. to 4.18, remove all dvfs patches ... and remove all patches, still no dvfs
<IgorPec>
regulator bits are there

I've upgraded the kernel on a nanopi neo core 2 from 4.14 to the linux-sunxi tip (4.18rc3), and my ethernet doesn't come up right, giving: "libphy: PHY stmmac-0:00 not found; platform 1c30000.ethernet eth0: Could not attach to PHY; platform 1c30000.ethernet eth0: stmmac_open: Cannot attach to PHY (error: -19)"
<ptz_>
any ideas how to debug that?

In the distro i downloaded there was a sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo-core2.dtb, but in the kernel tree i only see sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo2.dtb. They differ significantly. Where do i get ...core2?
<MoeIcenowy>
it's not yet supported by mainline kernel.
<MoeIcenowy>
where did you download the distro?
<MoeIcenowy>
I don't suggest you manually update the kernel in this case, wait for your distro to update it

it's FriendlyElec's Friendlycore
<ptz_>
the reason i think i want to to upgrade the kernel is that i have a port expander that i believe has a driver, which isn't compiled in the distro
<ptz_>
i'm trying to add it to the device tree, but not successful so far. thought that maybe having that driver compiled will help. but i can't say i'm 100% sure i know what i'm doing, rather new to these things.

So the slow speed of SD/MMC on A83T that I was writing about some time ago here on IRC was caused by missing bus-width = <4> in DTS. 6 -> 23.1 MB/s speedup. :) I got inspired by jagan's recent DTS patch that was fixing the same issue for H64 in UBoot.
