a bit OT, but has anyone seen the H6 ATF source in the 4.9 BSP?
<BenG83>
I found ATF source, but it seems only to contain A64 and H5

zoobab_, Sorry for the OT, but this was the only channel we have in common. We can do direct if you prefer. I thought about it more and I don't see the point of using boards like this when something like a Blue Pill board is cheaper and a full up USB enabled uC with hardware serial, SPI, I2S, etc. Firmata, IIRC, handles stuff like that and has a host protocol for managing it. Maybe we need a linux driver that speaks
<willmore>
firmata to devices like this and provides all the other driver intefaces out the other side?
<zoobab_>
yes I am trying to port the chromium ec firmware on the bluepill
<zoobab_>
I had a look at NuttX as well
iamfrankenstein1 has joined #linux-sunxi

zoobab_, If you'd like a second pair of eyes to help, let me know.
<zoobab_>
I bought a nucleo board that is supported by EC, so at least I have a reference that works
iamfrankenstein has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<zoobab_>
still have to find an hour or two to try it out
<zoobab_>
NuttX has also support for GPIO, not sure for a protocol that talks with the host

Hmm, the EC firmware seems interesting, but, unless I'm missing a lot of docs, seems very specialized to what they wanted it for.

<willmore>
I don't see why that would be an issue. It would be a NuttX application, then?
BroderTuck has joined #linux-sunxi
<willmore>
Firmata might not be the right thing. It's more of a spec on how to send messages from the uC to the SoC. That's not really what's needed here. Hmmm, let me do some more looking.
<BroderTuck>
Solved (most of) my problems from the other day. Had forgotten that USB mass storage support is not set to "Y" in the defconfig.

I am trying to access the uart of my rock64 over my pine at 1.5MHz, but I only get garbage, when I connect a different board to the uart of the pine64 it works
<Hauke>
a different boartd which uses 115200 baud
<Hauke>
does the A64 support 1.5MBaud?
<Hauke>
I connected it to UART4
<BenG83>
I think I already used a Pine64 once to connect to my Rock64
<BenG83>
using minicom?
<Hauke>
I use screen screen /dev/ttyS4 1500000
<Hauke>
when I switch RX and TX I get the same garbage
<BenG83>
just to make sure try minicom
<BenG83>
see if loopback works first

<thehungus>
which mainline i2c driver should be used with an A20? I've got CONFIG_I2C_SUN6I_P2WI=y and i2c-dev compiled in but only see bus 0 in sysfs or under /dev. the PMU chip is there on i2c0, but there's two other i2c busses on the A20
lurchi_ is now known as lurchi__
<BenG83>
are they turned on in your dts?
<thehungus>
help text for config_i2c_sun6i_p2wi indiciates it's only intended for single slave with the AXP
<thehungus>
good question, would expect so as am using a .dts in the mainline specific to my board. *shuffles off to check .dts*
<BenG83>
but I think the default is to not enable busses that have nothing connected on the board?
<thehungus>
yeah thanks
<thehungus>
still learning here
lkcl has joined #linux-sunxi
<thehungus>
they're all defined correctly in the .dtsi for the A20, but my board specific .dts only seems to define the port which is physically wired to the AXP chip, the others are exposed on headers
<thehungus>
so technically yes, 'have nothing connected'
<BenG83>
then you have to add them to your board dts
gnufan has joined #linux-sunxi
<Hauke>
the loopback with 1.5MBaud works for me, but when I connect iot to the rock64 I still onyl get garbage in minicom
<BenG83>
and your Rock64 works with a usb-serial adapter?
<Hauke>
no
<PhotoJim>
does it support any other speeds?
<Hauke>
I will try to get the rock to an other speed

hey, so I _just_ got a clusterboard that runs Sopine A64's all at once and it looks like I need to add a delay in the dtb to get networking to work on mainline kernels. Before I just patch and build a custom image for Sopine's that run in this clusterboard model, does anyone have any good ideas how to make that either detect on the fly or automatic in someway. I have never really messed with embed systems before so my
<biggie_min_max>
knowledge of the tooling available is limited.
