After switching to a non-systemd distro (but same kernel) on my veyron speedy chromebook (rk3288), I've been getting random unrecoverable freezes every hour or so. Any ideas why this is happening?
<robmur01>
I've certainly seen the "unexpected interrupt latency" messages on my RK3288 (along with eMMC performance being rubbish - I was thinking the eMMC itself might be starting to fail), but not I2C falling over

Net147: display freze at random time on rk3399 gru-kevin chromebook
<mps>
sound from mpv dosn't play after paused
<mps>
maybe some other minor issues which I 'forgot' because accepted them as normal
<Net147>
mps: I see. I booted up RK3399 on Linux 5.9 today. USB, capacitive touch display, HDMI, 3D, WiFi, Ethernet, RTC working. Still need to get sound working, just outputs noise on headphone jack.
<mps>
ah, yes, I had to make amixer script to set alsa to work properly
<Net147>
mps: got a link?
<mps>
I can post it to paste service if you want to play with it
<alpernebbi>
though things the /usr/share/alsa folder hierarchy has changed a bit on the development version so you might need to correct for that
<alpernebbi>
s/things the/things in the/

does anyone know if there maybe has been some progress regarding usb3 on a rk3328? It unfortunately is dead on my hardware and I have no clue what to do to enable it.

nomis: it needs patches to enable the host controller, which someone tried to revive recently but don't seem to have made major progress...
<robmur01>
...then it also needs the phy driver, where again some attempts were made to upstream that from the BSP some time ago, but stalled...
<robmur01>
...and then it turns out to need a third piece of the puzzle which is a disgusting bodge to handle the fact that even once you have the phy driver (such that it doesn't die as soon as you unplug anything), it still can't handle USB3 disconnects properly due to other brokenness

I was thinking I might have a go at pulling a complete patch series together once I got the NanoPi R2S (since the USB3 ethernet is kinda the main point of that board...), given that I've already invested in figuring out what needs to be done, but lately I've been wanting to spend my free time on things that look less like work :)
