on the rk3399, does anybody know if the sdmmc and sdio interface are identical or is one only for SDIO and the other for SD/MMC cards? For example, there is a PWR_CTRL register, but only the SDIO has a dedicated power enable pin

AFAIK it's the same DesignWare IP, but the integration and I/O is done slightly differently for each instance, presumably based on the intended use-case

that said, I believe there are at least some RK3328 TV boxes with an SDIO module wired to their "SDMMC" interface :)

(given the market, it seems more likely to be a poor design oversight than a deliberate ploy to prevent users booting from SD cards...)

well I guess they are the same except the additional inputs/output like irq_in for SDIO, so if you don't need them (or use other interrupts) SDIO should work just fine on SDMMC
