<strugert> hi! I use Olimex RK3188-SOM and have a problem: I don't see NAND if I boot from SD (but i see it and its partitions if I boot from it (NAND)). I am feeling that i miss something with proprietary loader and nand driver... Any help?
<naobsd> strugert: it's normal behaviour
<strugert> ah... thanks!

<naobsd> hmm... about boot priority on rk3368, SD card is prior than eMMC? it seems boot from SD is working w/o erasing eMMC loader area...
<naobsd> I have to modify u-boot to avoid UART2<>SD conflict
<naobsd> (boot from SD is not completed yet)
maz has joined #linux-rockchip
<naobsd> I guess USB-UART function on rk3368 is not so useful with SD card
<naobsd> because it's anyhow UART2
<rperier> mhhhh linux-next seems to freeze when I enable hdmi on veyron, it freezes in rockchip_drm_vop.c:1618 (the memcpy)
<rperier> at least, this is what I found
<rperier> I am not sure... It seems to be caused by the clock "hclk_vop"...
<rperier> that's weird because I have nothing specific to the speedy model in my dts (compared to the other models) , all these parts are handled either in rk3288-veyron.dtsi or rk3288.dtsi...
<rperier> interesting...

<urgodfather> does anyone know how to convert a usb to serial to a usb to ttl cable?
<urgodfather> all i need to do is run a pinout from the db9 using gnd, rxd, and txd.... right?
<urgodfather> what about 3.3v or 5v?

<mmind00> naobsd: I think the uart2<->sd-conflict might only be on the pin-level ... I'd think the turnoff to the usb-uart might be earlier than that, so it might still work
<mmind00> naobsd: although note, the usbphy on the rk3368 is a new ip

<naobsd> mmind00: hm, thanks. what I tried is enabling usb-uart in stock RK u-boot. I could access dmesg and shell on Android on eMMC. then I tried SD boot with raw UART2 and usb-uart, both hanged in the middle of u-boot.
<mmind00> naobsd: that's sad
<naobsd> mmind00: SD card might not be populated properly, it was first trial
<naobsd> mmind00: I'll try to recompile RK u-boot to use UART4 (R68 has it too)
<mmind00> naobsd: of course the pinmux can also sit before the detour to the usbphy, so it really may share internals too
<naobsd> btw if I tried to use UART2 console and SD card at same time, SD doesn't work while UART2 wires are connected (of course), and surprisingly SD works while UART2 wires are removed, both happened _without_ rebooting
<naobsd> surprisingly -> what's the pinmux function!?
<naobsd> I misunderstood something about pinmux...
<naobsd> anyway I only tried rk3368 very very few time yet
<naobsd> it needs more time to make things sure
<naobsd> I tried them at very late night, any misunderstanding can happen ;)
<mmind00> naobsd: pinmux (as part of the pinctrl subsystem) is the selection which function a pin of the soc should connect to (sd or uart2 in our case here)
<naobsd> yes, so I confused why both UART2 and SD can work... I don't think stock kernel changes pixmux interactively
<naobsd> or UART2/SD pins are just shared (not switched by pinmux) on rk3368?
<naobsd> I should see kernel source...
<naobsd> no, SD is func1, UART2 is func2
<naobsd> interesting...
<naobsd> I really want more time!
<naobsd> btw I got rk3026 tablet with e-paper... it's also interesting but there is no source/doc as usual :)
