<hramrach> hello
<hramrach> so rk3188 supposedly boots from SD so how do I make it to do so?
<viric> it can't load the kernel from SD
<hramrach> why?
<viric> ask rockchip
<viric> they write the bootloader
<hramrach> so the bootloader is just broken?
<viric> you can write a kernel to NAND that can use the SD as rootfs
<viric> the bootloader is closed source
<hramrach> that equals broken most of the time
<viric> I just got into this very recently; my picture may be wrong
<hramrach> the bootloader has multiple parts. At the very least one burnt into the SoC and one on the media
<viric> I talk only about the nand part
<hramrach> the bootloader burnt into 3066 cannot boot from SD media but the one burnt into 3188 supposedly can
<hramrach> but if the bootloader you put on the medium cannot read SD card then this is not very useful
<viric> maybe. I don't know how to do that in any case.
<hramrach> me neither. that's why I am asking in the first place
<viric> this says it may try mmc
<hramrach> yes, I did not want to overwrite the flash
<viric> it says it may try mmc only if it fails to load it from flash
<hramrach> hmm, so need to backup the flash first or find manufacturer image

<viric> hi rockchip
<viric> Am I any right, that picuntu and linuxium kernels don't accept modifications in the cmdline (by 'parameters')?
<viric> or simply NO kernel supports cmdline override through parameters?

cnxsoft has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<hramrach> most kernels do support parameters
<hramrach> problem is where do you specify them if you have a broken bootloader

<viric> hramrach: is it the problem? ah
<viric> hramrach: then if I want specific parameters, I better build a kernel with them
<viric> for mk802iv I should use the picuntu 4.4 defconfig I see in the kernel tree?
