Correction: What's the proper way to define a module method in a Java extension for JRuby9000? I have everything working in JRuby 1.7, but the method isn't being defined at all in 9K.

<enebo>
mkristian: no doubt there is :) but I don’t know it
<mkristian>
well, I looked for it more then one time ;)

enebo, git push --tags does send only the tags not the commits. so you need another push to get the code online. only then the tags and commits are in sync.
<nirvdrum>
enebo: No idea. But 'git push --all' doesn't push tags either.
<enebo>
mkristian: yeah I understand what it does but I am much more wondering why it is like that
<enebo>
I am struggling to even think of a use-case for it…which is why I tihnk I am missing something obvious

“I don't like this. I think it is a bad idea to ALWAYS have tag pushing turned on.”
<enebo>
So this indirectly answers my why question too
<enebo>
—folow-tags will only push the tag if it is the associated with a commit being pushed
<enebo>
So this —tags option is for people who do not want their private tags pushed
<enebo>
If this is true then —tags seems like it must have more options to only push some tags
subbu is now known as subbu|lunch
<enebo>
which I guess I am still missing but if you can accidentally do ‘git push —tags’ and push 10,000 private tags then this is a horrible interface
<enebo>
nirvdrum: anyways…I just added folowTags as a global so I won’t make this mistake anymore

hey all, i just tried upgrading to jruby 9, but phusion passenger needs close-on-exec support :( i'll keep my eyes on news to see if it gets implemented. figured i'd mention it, since there's probably a good number of jruby+passenger users who can't try jruby 9 yet

<nirvdrum>
It's a Ruby 2.0+ thing.
<fedenusy>
hm weird, and yet phusion passenger docs say jruby 1.7 is supported
<fedenusy>
maybe it's a phusion passenger-specific bug then

Maybe passenger is adding 1.9-specific workarounds and since jruby 9k answers as ruby 2.2-compatible it's making bad assumptions

yeah, possible

guess i should just switch to puma or something else

I just use torquebox as my application server, I haven't bothered with all the scheduling and caching stuff
<Antiarc>
It's the only jruby server I've found that supports online application reloads out of the box
<Antiarc>
But v3 is somewhat cumbersome to set up
<fedenusy>
hm ok maybe worth trying then
<fedenusy>
i remember trying puma a while ago, and rails crashing all the time
<Antiarc>
Puma works great, too, in my experience, but since jruby doesn't support forking you can't run it in clustered mode
<Antiarc>
(so you can't get the online application reloads)
