<jas-hacks_>
I found the problem 'but not the fix' with neverball, its default resolution is now 1280x720, if current screen resolution is 1280x720 then it freezes. If you have a higher screen resolution screen then it works because it is no longer in full screen mode.

jas-hacks_: fbmem?
<jas-hacks_>
hste: not sure where it is.
<hste>
jas-hacks_: I had issues when I didn't reserve enough mem
<jas-hacks_>
hste: To clean things up and save memory , I stopped the bluetooth services in startup.
<hste>
I sth get this [74049.585857] [drm:drm_lock_free] *ERROR* 3 freed heavyweight lock held by 1

I guess I need to add some swap. firefox often hang. got oomkill on it
<jas-hacks_>
tuxracer is probably slow because it uses libGLU.so.1 => /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabi/libGLU.so.1 (0x2ab92000)
<hste>
jas-hacks_: how is it going with new uboot?
<jas-hacks_>
hste: just testing that boots it from mmc and usb. Want to test it?
<jas-hacks_>
hste: do u think there is any use to load /boot.scr from fat partition?
<hste>
jas-hacks_: You still need to have uboot in internal?
<hste>
jas-hacks_: why bother with fat
<jas-hacks_>
hste: Yes one uboot on internal. After that it searches for /boot.scr on mmc and usb. Once found loads it and executes the script.
<hste>
jas-hacks_: so it store some prevalues on dongle?
<jas-hacks_>
hste: no sure what u mean
<jas-hacks_>
not sure what u mean
<hste>
jas-hacks_: program the loader og uboot
<hste>
jas-hacks_: program the loader of uboot
<jas-hacks_>
that is done in /boot.src
<jas-hacks_>
boot.scr
<hste>
jas-hacks_: so u need to have a card with uboot in internal?
<jas-hacks_>
yes
<jas-hacks_>
but after that it can boot load kernel from int/ext sd or usb
<hste>
are u gonna push it into git?
<jas-hacks_>
need you to test it first :)
<hste>
jas-hacks_: I think it already do that wiyj bootcmd but not the boot.scr and u have to program using the recovery button. So the boot.scr sounds nice so peopke doesnæt need to do it from serial :)
<hste>
ok where is it?
<jas-hacks_>
... need to wait a bit longer
<jas-hacks_>
for usb you need a powered hub
<hste>
yes my hub works ok can use extra power if I just find the cable :)
<hste>
the usbkeyboard works ok from uboot
<hste>
when I started usb from uboot last time it was ok
<jas-hacks_>
I only start usb in uboot if no boot.scr found on mmc
<hste>
its actually nice to start it from recovery when you have fb. Make it possible to drop serial
<hste>
as long as your monitor supports it.....
<hste>
jas-hacks_: will ext always be mmcblk1 for rootfs?
ajayr_ has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
<jas-hacks_>
rootfs will configure in /boot.scr , so can be anywhere you want
ajayr_ has joined #imx6-dongle
<hste>
jas-hacks_: yes but when u set root=/dev/mmcblk1p1 will it be ext or will it sth be /dev/mmcblk0p1
<jas-hacks_>
yes root="/dev/mmcblk0p1" or "/dev/sda" for usb
<jas-hacks_>
root can ext or int sd
<jas-hacks_>
depends which device has /boot.scr on it
<hste>
ok
<hste>
does it support labels if u got more usbdisk on the hub?
<jas-hacks_>
no, its tries the first 2 storage devices

jas-hacks_: what speed do u get from WLAN. Without antenna I get pretty stable 3MB/s 1 meter away from router
<jas-hacks_>
< 1MB/S mine is 0.5 meters away
<hste>
so mine without antenna is better...
<jas-hacks_>
how fast is usb-ether
<hste>
wlan1 4 available bit-rates :
<hste>
1 Mb/s
<hste>
5.5 Mb/s
<hste>
11 Mb/s
<hste>
2 Mb/s
<hste>
Current Bit Rate:150 Mb/s
<NiceGoy>
anyone know a vivante xorg driver repo that actually builds?
<NiceGoy>
or am i going to have to patch this shit by hand
<jas-hacks_>
hste: I need to get one ;)
<jas-hacks_>
NiceGoy: I can help you, but in an hour or so.
<NiceGoy>
k, thanx bro
antony has joined #imx6-dongle

jas-hacks_: speed on usbeth is only 768k/s
<hste>
jas-hacks_: get a lot of this [85283.827622] usb usb1: clear tt buffer port 1, a5 ep1 t00318d58
<hste>
[85284.049631] usb usb1: clear tt buffer port 1, a5 ep1 t80318d50
<hste>
jas-hacks_: did a test again and speed was up to 5M/s on wlan, so it much better than the dongle
<hste>
jas-hacks_: 5MB/s so thats ok on 150Mb/s link
<hste>
jas-hacks_: I think CONFIG_USB_DEBUG=y should be unset when using a usbdisk or dongle
<jas-hacks_>
hste: have u still got time to test?
<jas-hacks_>
or tomorrow
<hste>
jas-hacks_: yes some time :)
<jas-hacks_>
u-boot_multi_boot.imx on your server
<hste>
ok
<jas-hacks_>
and sample boot.scr to boot from int sd card as normal
<hste>
so boot.scr is not compiled?
<jas-hacks_>
want me to compile it
<hste>
no I can do it myself :)
<jas-hacks_>
you want to change resolution
<jas-hacks_>
mkimage -A arm -O linux -T script -n "boot" -d boot.cmd boot.scr
<hste>
no then I can see that res also work :)
<jas-hacks_>
boot_usb.scr sample usb booting
<jas-hacks_>
might need serial
<hste>
and looking for uImage in /boot?
<jas-hacks_>
yes and boot.scr in /
<jas-hacks_>
rename my .scr to .cmd for mkimage
<hste>
putting the image on et with bootscr worked :)
<hste>

When kernel is booting what is shown for "Kernel command line: "
<hste>
I'm starting up my pc with usbserial now
<hste>
its saying no /boot.scr found on mmc devices
<hste>
it booted on image from int sdcard thats why solution wasn't read
<jas-hacks_>
for ext sd, is boot.scr on ext sd card ?
<hste>
yes
<hste>
the same on usb
<jas-hacks_>
in /
<hste>
yes
<hste>
I'll check again
<hste>
yes it was in /
<jas-hacks_>
can you pastebin uboot output and boot.cmd file
<jas-hacks_>
nicegoy: which distro are you trying to build vivante drivers for
<NiceGoy>
i dont think there's a vivante driver package yet
<NiceGoy>
maybe in an overlay or w/e
<jas-hacks_>
hste: usb is like this:
<jas-hacks_>
setenv console 'ttymxc3,115200'
<jas-hacks_>
setenv root '/dev/sda1 rootwait'
<jas-hacks_>
setenv rootfstype 'ext4'
<jas-hacks_>
setenv kernel 'uImage'
<jas-hacks_>
setenv extra ''
<jas-hacks_>
setenv video 'mxcfb0:dev=hdmi,1280x960M@60,if=RGB24'
<jas-hacks_>
setenv boot_normal 'setenv bootargs console=${console} root=${root} rootfstype=${rootfstype} video=${video} ${extra}; usb dev 0; ext
<jas-hacks_>
2load usb 0:1 0x10800000 /boot/uImage; bootm'
<hste>
I guess thats the problem :)
<NiceGoy>
hste: just read the uboot scripting manual
<NiceGoy>
it's highly recommended if you're going to dick with embedded stuff
<NiceGoy>
another protip: you can use thermal epoxy to epoxy some slabs of aluminum (or heatsinks) to the back and front of the dongle's guts
<jas-hacks_>
nicegoy: The vivante source packages are in ltib, yocto, bsp. There are gz source files, its getting a bit late here. I'll dig them out for you tomorrow.
<NiceGoy>
thanks for the hint, just found an explanation.
<NiceGoy>
i'll get it running from here
<hste>
jas-hacks_: it boots but I guess the kernel I had on it had not set getting bootargs from uboot :) it mounted mmcblk0p1 as rootfs :)
<hste>
but looks like it work. I'll build some new kernel/rootfs to try
