<Netfeed> dominikh: do you know how much traffic you get for the HN-post?

<dominikh> Netfeed: when I went to bed, the HN post had a score of 1 and got me maybe 5 visitors. doubt that changed

<Netfeed> 46 saves in feedly
<Netfeed> cool mode at least, so you have code in a language release now then?
<dominikh> do you mean the emacs mode?
<Netfeed> yeah
<dominikh> it was part of a couple releases of Go, yes. 1.4 kicks out all the editor and shell integeation, however
<Netfeed> really?
<dominikh> but I also submitted patches to the compiler and stdlib, so technically I still have code in a language release
<Netfeed> cool
<dominikh> yes. the Go team thinks the community should have to maintain editor plugins etc, not the team
<Netfeed> i agree
<dominikh> me too
<dominikh> Netfeed: wait, which HN post were you talking about
<dominikh> looks like there's been two posts to my blog on the same day :P

<dominikh> ah. I was thinking of https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8684430, hence my confusion when you talked about the emacs mode
<dominikh> the emacs one got 231 hits from HN, the tools one got 12 :D either way, unpopular posts don't get a lot of traffic from HN ;)
<Netfeed> heh, yeah, that's the way it goes if it's not about javascript or something that has to do with feminists :P
<dominikh> :D
<dominikh> my… second article in the "Go tip" series back then got a couple thousand, I think
<dominikh> but yeah, I don't particularly care about HN; don't read it, either
<Netfeed> it's a bit more "programmy" than /r/programming
<Netfeed> i'm just curious about how much traffic a site actually get in the "smaller" reddits and sites like HN
<dominikh> both are shit, really. the SNR on /r/programming doesn't even justify having the "S" in the abbreviation, and HN is a circle jerk
<dominikh> heck, even if you're on page one of HN, unless it's #1 and a really popular topic, the traffic is really quite low. the best I got was a couple thousands for some stupid rant
<Netfeed> there's some interesting stuff there, but i usually read it for the comments, the articles are usually pretty meh
<dominikh> the comments are even worse :P
<Netfeed> it's better there than on many other subs :)
<dominikh> I prefer real people I actually know to send me articles to read; and then I make sure not to read comments ;)
