<GNUtoo-irssi>
hi, I saw some EOMA68 prototypes at the FOSDEM, and I've several questions I forgott to ask:
<GNUtoo-irssi>
1) I see ath9k_htc and RT2070 wifi modules, on the laptop, can an ath9k_htc module be used instead? are they easy to find? (so the wifi remains internal)
<GNUtoo-irssi>
2) About the MIPS, is its SMID engine well supported by gcc?
<GNUtoo-irssi>
As for the ec, the chromebooks also use another free software project

GNUtoo-irssi: hallo!
<lkcl_>
GNUtoo-irssi: right - you can use anything that's USB-based. there are 2 internal USB slots, and 1 external. the plan is, if you want WIFI, 3G, extra USB storage, anything like that, you open up the compartment and put them in. or not. there's *no* "soldered-down" WIFI or anything like that
<lkcl_>
you want LTE in the future, off you go - open up the compartment, slot it in.

GNUtoo-irssi: the ingenic X-Burst engine is.... odd :)
<lkcl_>
with there being the ci20 dev-kit out there now (which uses a dual-core jz4780 which has a powervr GPU so i will *not* be using it) there is much more interest in ingenic processors in general

GNUtoo-irssi: regarding the EC, yes i saw that project with the chromebook EC, yes they do keyboard-scanning as well. although it was useful to see i couldn't really make much sense of the organisation of the source code.

GNUtoo-irssi: but, thankfully, i have some rudimentary stm32f072 firmware up and running: the keyboard is not entirely bug-free but is actually functional, and i can talk to the touchpanel.
<lkcl_>
that's good enough :)
