<steeve> hey guys, does anyone know what is the state of mainline/linux-next with respect to imx6 ?
<steeve> ie do I still need to build my kernel of linux-imx ?

<dv_> steeve: if you want video and 3D acceleration, you need linux-imx
<dv_> mainlining these will take a _very_ long time, if ever

<steeve> dv_: thanks
<steeve> i had a glim of hope looking at linux-next which has imx6 dtbs
<steeve> guys, which kernel would you recommend for gk802 ?

<steeve> dv_: what about this one? https://github.com/linux4kix/linux-linaro-stable-mx6
<dv_> no idea. it is mostly tested on cubox-i devices
<dv_> ask jnettlet for more
<dv_> he is in #cubox
<dv_> I think it should work, since most patches there are not cubox-i specific
<dv_> they just havent been tested on the gk802 etc.
<dv_> I suspect mainly dtb issues

<steeve> dv_: i'll stick with the battle tested 3.0.35
<steeve> then move to this one once i got my stick booting, thanks :)
<dv_> okay
<codinho> dv_, how do you think is it possible to add building gst1.x meta without X11 ?
<codinho> currently if I'm x11 to DISTRO_FEATURES_remove I can see errors regarding some gst packages requires x11 related packages
<codinho> *adding*
<dv_> hm
<dv_> it should be possible
<dv_> if you remove something from the DISTRO_FEATURES the recipes should register that and disable the relevant parts
<dv_> what exactly fails to compile ?
<codinho> well, I've disabled some packages, currently Can't install gst-plugins-bad-rfbsrc-0.10.23-r4@cortexa9hf_vfp_neon: no package provides libxcb1 >= 1.10

<codinho> dv_, do you think current fsl-community-bsp master could be broken at current moment?
<codinho> I'm actually want to ask about boundary's kernel 3.10
<dv_> I do not know, I dont use it, and use the kernel from jnettlet
<codinho> ok
<dv_> ask otavio
<codinho> so it depends on fsl kernel components I think
<codinho> obviously
<codinho> otavio, hi, does current boundary 3.10.x kernel supports fsl video/egl components for gst-0.10?
<drfu_> hello everybody, every time i run the setupenvironment script i have to edit the local.con file and add a 1 to the fsl eula because it gets cleared each time... is this a bug? I'm using a sabre lite board

<dv_> codinho: gst 0.10 and egl components? what do you mean?
<dv_> the fsl plugins do not have anything to do with egl
<codinho> dv_, oh, ok, so just gst-0.10 then
<codinho> sure, yeah
<dv_> or did you mean support for the GPU?
<dv_> I guess the boundary kernel 3.10 does have the VPU and GPU bits inside
<codinho> so you mean that at least gst0.10 hw decoding should work there
<dv_> yes
<codinho> ok
<dv_> but I'd prefer if you used gstreamer-imx :P
<codinho> this table looks good
<codinho> yes, so as you did it for 3.0.x I've decided to know is 0.10 supported at least
<dv_> ah
<codinho> dv_, my goal for now is to have gst-1.x + qt5
<dv_> is gst 1.0 now enabled in qt5 ?
<dv_> they were struggling with that
<codinho> there is a code for review
<codinho> I've ported qt5multimedia to use gst1.x
<codinho> ubuntu touch currently uses my qt5multimdia branch
<codinho> jhodapp added video sink for ubuntu touch there and he did posted our branch to qt5 forum
<dv_> oh nice
<dv_> was it a lot of work?
<dv_> also, qtwebkit should support gst1.x out of the box
<codinho> as I remember qrwebkit uses phonon
<codinho> *qtwebkit* for qt4.8 at least
<dv_> qtwebkit in qt5 uses gstreamer directly
<codinho> oh
<dv_> and its configure scripts first try to detect gst 1.x
<dv_> only if that one isnt found it falls back to gst 0.10
<codinho> :)
<codinho> I've seen some patches about gst1.x and qtwebkit
<dv_> previously, this could create the interesting situation where qtwebkit wanted to use gst 1.x and qtmultimedia gst 0.10
<dv_> you cannot use both in the same process
<codinho> yes
<codinho> here is the branch https://github.com/jhodapp/qtmultimedia
<codinho> here is mine git@gitorious.org:qt/qtmultimedia-porting.git, it doesn't includes jhodapps ubuntu touch video sink
<codinho> I'm trying to find the link to the qt review forum

<unsolo> not all my vivante but all the vivante binary examples and even compiled ones.
<unsolo> they try opening a lot of stuff then get to /dev/fb0 and segfault according to strace
