bvernoux: btw, wrt to the e4433b, somewhat confusingly the 1M/8M option is unrelated to the ARB. It's only for the real-time iq generator.
<
bvernoux>
after more check my HW issue seems related to option UN8 in fact
<
bvernoux>
as when I disable UN8 option SelfTest work fine
<
bvernoux>
Anyway I still have calibration failure
<
bvernoux>
with only UND HW options selected
<
tnt>
I'm trying to fix my un8 board right now ...
<
bvernoux>
ha so maybe you have same issue as me ;)
<
bvernoux>
I read there was lot of defective RAM on UN8
<
bvernoux>
there is 1MBit SRAM on UN8 IIRC
<
tnt>
Yes there is.
<
tnt>
I had defective SRAM but on the UND board. Fixed that a couple years ago. Now I get a EEPROM CK SUM error on the Flex DG board (part of un8)
<
bvernoux>
do you have calibration error ?
<
bvernoux>
when you have only UND HW option selected ?
<
bvernoux>
as I still have this strange error when I have only UND selected
<
bvernoux>
tnt, I'm interested if you have schematics of UN8 ;)
<
bvernoux>
thanks for the other schematic can be very useful (but I doubt UND is defective...)
<
tnt>
bvernoux: I don't unfortunately :/
<
bvernoux>
On my side I have all those options => OPT 1E5 H99 UN5 UN8 UND
<
bvernoux>
even if I'm not really interested by GSM things ;)
<
bvernoux>
interesting points is custom part
<
tnt>
I know I don't have H99 but I have all the other sw options installed. (and 1E5/UN8/UND hw options).
<
bvernoux>
H99 is to provide improvements on performances ...
<
bvernoux>
for UND & UN8 options
<
bvernoux>
also UN3 & UN4 but I do not have such options
<
bvernoux>
My ESG-D was calibrated in Apr-09-2018
<
bvernoux>
but the strange things is they do not have seen the error with self test when all HW options are selected
<
bvernoux>
I suspect they have calibrated only the basic things like OCXO
<
bvernoux>
which was off by something like 0.5ppm and I have recalibrated with my GPSDO
<
bvernoux>
anyway I have checked the signal with my FreqCounter/Power meter and it is very good
<
bvernoux>
it is a HP53150A Calibrated on 17 May 2019
<
bvernoux>
which work fine (even if today I cannot test it up to 20GHz ;)
<
bvernoux>
such old HP/Agilent hardware are really amazing for the price (on ebay) anyway
<
bvernoux>
they are 20years old and there is nothing to replace them at an affordable price even today ...
<
bvernoux>
anyway a good point is things like that
<
bvernoux>
a very cheap sig gen for 200USD I'm happy to be a backer of that
<
bvernoux>
the performance are very good for the price
<
bvernoux>
with a very interesting test by The Signal Path
<
bvernoux>
anyway I'm waiting my unit to test it ;)
<
bvernoux>
and compare to my HP E4432B ;)
<
bvernoux>
(which is clearly not in same world and anyway limited to 3GHz)
<
tnt>
Heh, yeah, I saw that device ... but the lack of filters makes it ok as a quick source if you don't care about harmonics but that's about it.
<
bvernoux>
yes clearly harmonics are not like Agilent Sig Gen which cost 100x more ;)
<
bvernoux>
or even the ESG-D
<
bvernoux>
I mainly want to use it as quick source for things > 3GHz
<
bvernoux>
also the swipe can be fun for some test
<
bvernoux>
from 10Mhz to 6GHz
<
bvernoux>
does anyone know a cheap and good Clock Distri?bution with 1 Input (GPSDO) and up to 8 output
<
bvernoux>
I have not found any cheap to do that
