If I write a method in Ruby that just prints something out and doesn't return anything, how do I use that method to print something on an HTML page? I have an application controller (erb file) if that helps.
<lupine>
ela_: you don't, really
<lupine>
change the method to return a String instead of using puts
<ela_>
it goes through a "for each" loop and prints out something from a sqlite3 data table... i have no idea how to make that a string
<ela_>
oh wait- i think i got it. i'll just add it to one big string. Thanks so much

based on percentage share of US population being members of ku klux clan, and number of developers globally

and assumption that equal part of developers are openly racist as general US population
<ytti>
(i'm sure fewer developers are, but as it was just for KKK, and openly racists people covers more than actual members of KKK, I'd say it's still reasonable approximation)

I have a module that gives a method "loader" to a class, if that method is given a block, it does @loader = Loader.new(&block), otherwise it just returns @loader - I wanted to set a class reference on Loader.new, instead of doing it ugly in the loader self, {evaled_code} I am just passing it in the method that is included in the class - I know that's confusing
<toretore>
perhaps precisely defining the question first is a good idea

notice the addition of self on line 9, as well as a 'model' argument in the loader initizliae

seems like a strange API to have, if i call loader with a block it initializes @loader, then if i call it without a block it returns @loader to me. if i never call it with a block, it would always be nil.
