I attached a SSD to my Rock2's SATA connector, but I get read speeds at barely 30MB/s... is this normal?
<
sjoerd>
topi`: I wouldn't know what the speed limit is but keep in mind the sata bridge is connected over USB to the SoC
<
sjoerd>
so 30 megabyte a second is 240mbit/s which is 50% of the theoretical limit of usb 2
<
topi`>
we need SoCs with proper SATA support :/ that is currently sorely lacking, except some Qualcomm chips like 8084 have it
<
sjoerd>
There are a few
<
sjoerd>
but not typically the ones targetted at the mobile market
<
sjoerd>
e.g. nvidia tegra, renesas, freescale all have actual sata iirc

the Jetson TK1 (Tegra K1) actually makes for a very nice and fast devboard
<

but the Rock2 is more compact and nicer for creating a small desktop PC

I assume when the green LED flashes twice every few seconds and there is no red LED, it means my attempt at writing a new boot.img failed
<
Apocx>
when I wrote the boot.img it said premature end of file, so I guess now I have to figure out why
