cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: PyPy, the flexible snake (IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end ) | use cffi for calling C | if a pep adds a mere 25-30 [C-API] functions or so, it's a drop in the ocean (cough) - Armin

an unfortunate power cycling caused the win32 buildbot to die in the middle of hg update, which because of a bug freezes the build somehow
<mattip>
requiring restarting both the buildbot builder and the master

mattip: they scan package managers essentially, not all git repos
<tos9>
mattip: so if pypy isn't installable via pypi they won't find it I think
<tos9>
but that being said, I think when I mentioned it to them they said they're open to adding pypy
<tos9>
arigo / mattip : what's required at the minute for the buildbot? I can't promise I won't also only be interested for a limited time :D, but I do care about pypy+macos support and also I have a PR waiting for approval that needs building on it to see if it works
<mattip>
thanks, joining a meeting now so I will look over tidelift stuff a bit later

one other random thing that I know you guys sometimes care about (or hate talking about) -- git 2.28 has something for merge-y workflows, the --show-pulls flag to stuff now says to include which merge brought a file change into a branch (via https://github.blog/2020-07-27-highlights-from-git-2-28/)

ah so it's hardware that's disappeared / is now needed for the build slave? That's possibly trickier
<tos9>
yeah, I wouldn't think it is, they seem too high profile :)
<tos9>
and deciding how to divvy up funds doesn't sound fun for something like cpython
<tos9>
pypy is smaller though, and y'all are more reasonable with each other :D -- so I still think it may be worth just sending a thing over to the tidelift guys and saying "hey can you tell us if there'd be any income you're aware of"
<tos9>
maybe they have some idea already
