dmbaturin: Debian (and Ubuntu) is the worst. We (radare2) suffer from their policies too

(As in, it was debian-based before it died and I forked and resurrect it, but a) Debian base system is not nearly as much of a problem as the legacy codebase we are now cleaning up b) it was hard enough to tear that codebase off of Squeeze, and even theoretical possibility to switch to something else needs a lot of work)

dmbaturin: you could try Void for example
<xvilka>
even Alpine is better
<dmbaturin>
I would love to use nix for reversible upgrades, if they work as advertised.
<xvilka>
ah, yes, nix idea is interesting
<xvilka>
you might want to check guix then too
<dmbaturin>
Right now we do reversible upgrades by swapping squashfs images of the system (which are union mounted on boot, like in livecds).
